What class

Hi all newbie here looking to start flat tracking. Live in the south suburbs of Sydney.
What's the best way to get started?
Got my eye on a 83 Honda XL500. What class could i run in are these competitive?
Was also thinking about an earl 70's model XL350 any thoughts on that?
Which one would be better?
Appreciate anyones thoughts.

g'day livo, if you go for the 350 Honda pre '75 you will have a lot of fun at Nepean club days and, there are a number of those things worked over that go extremely well! welcome aboard,   cheers wally

Welcome Livo, go for the 350, you'll have more chances to ride it and as Wally said there are several running around already.

Welcome Livo, Practice day on the 10th oct, Race on 8th Nov, Make sure you use a trials universal rear tyre. C U there

Yeah that's what i was thinking. Just got to find a 350 now. Missed one on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
I will probably join the St George club.
Will defiantly be coming out to the nepean day in november for a look.

welcome livo any bike will do just to have a go.have you got a mate who rides, try and con him/her into a ride.nepean run pratice days on the second saturday of the month.it would be a better choice than a race day.cost i think is $60.00 for the day plus rec licence if you don`t have a ma licence $25.00.just on costs st geoge membership is $25.00 and the penrith club is $15.00 and you can ride at both club meetings with any one of the clubs membership.penrith club is mainly aimed at classic dirt bikes.as yzman said trials universal rear tyre only at nepean (track rules).the good people at kelens could tell you how much a practice/race day would cost phone 0247214439 regards mick #95 that could change.

if you just want to run club days any evo bike will do.ie no disk brake non watercooled no linkage suspension.
classes are 125 up to evo can run in 250
                250 up to evo can run in unlimited
            251-500 up to evo can run in unlimited
if you want to run the 1 penrith pre 75 2day you have to have a pre 75 bike and also join penrith club

Hey Mick, Number 95 is always your if/when you require it,  will be quite happy to modify mine to 98.. Must show respect to the tribal elders
