Finally Finished my RM250Z
« on: September 27, 2009, 11:58:57 am »
Hey fellas, I worked on it all summer and with the help of many people, including suzuki43 and 090, I finally raced my RM250Z for the first time last weekend. I'm happy to report that everything worked beautifully. The bike is fast and the suspension, with the help of stiffer springs and Race Tech valves, is phenomenal. Our Fall racing series here in Texas just started and I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks Craig. Now if I can get through the season without falling on the right side and messing up your frame cover. lol

Thanks marcFX. The wipers are neoprene seal savers from Shock Sox. They are an excellent product that really works well. www.bermmotorsports.com

Beautiful bike aside, that's a really nice photo of you doing your thing Cam. That's a famous number you're using there as far as Aussie MX history goes. If you go half as well as the guy who wore it here you'll win a few races.

I always pictured Texas as a dry, brown land, a lot like Australia. It looks pretty green at that track mate, kinda like your lawn. ;D

Thanks firko. Who use to run 23 down there? I've been running it since 1974. With the exception of Leisk and the current crop of Aussies and New Zealanders that run the US Nationals and SX, I really don't know much about moto down under. It's obvious that you have a strong scene though.

Texas is a big state with many different landscapes. East Texas is very hilly terrain with dense pine forests and it flattens out and rains more as you go SE towards Houston. South Texas is flat coastal areas with a temperate climate so there is a lot of farming down there. Out west are the rolling plains and high desert like you see in the movies. North central Texas, where I am, has more hardwood forests, rolling hills and farm lands. It usually gets dry here in the summer but this year we got enough rain to keep everything green and the tracks well watered.

The number 23 was used by arguably our greatest domestic rider Steven Gall back in the early days. When he started winning championships he relinquished the number to run #1 or #2 depending on where he came in the championship. He ran the number on his midgets and sprintcars after he went over to 4 wheels.

Didn't he race in the States from time to time? I recall reading about him in Motocross Action back around 1980ish.

That's some of the best dirt in the state! I am very fortunate that it's owned by an old friend of mine. We were team mates, racing for the same shop, when we were kids.

Now it's time for me to finish the '73 XR75 that I started five years ago. I've got the tank smoothed out and I'll be handing it off to one of the best vintage paint guys this weekend.
