That red motor with headers out both sides looks the goods-eh bloke.
Just finished Jupiters Travels (xmas prezzy from Jess) Funny how so much changes but so much stays the same. I took him only 10.000 miles to find out the Trumpy was a shitter, and when it was rebuilt in California he got upset with the US distributor when they told him to get a Yamaha or a BMW.
Now I'm on to Zoltan the Hungarian on his Harley outfit going a lap in 1927-no wonder it took him 8yrs- those Harleys were never too quick. I like the idea of the chair though.

Motocross - The Big Leap by Frank Melling.
I have this and it is an EXCELLENT read if you want first-hand info on the top bikes from 1966 through to 1976.
Definately worth getting.

In the '60s I had a book called Scrambles and Motocross by Les Archer which I found very inspiring.
  Of course I lent it to some-one [as you do,] consequently I don't remember who, and haven't seen it since, or another copy anywhere.
  It was probably indirectly responsible for a few monumental get-offs by  me at Moorebank!
  I believe that any-one reading the book now would find it quite interesting comparing the type of machinery that was winning big time in Les Archers day, to the modern high performance and light weight equipment now.

Wal, I tried to buy a copy of Les Archers book on eBay a few months ago and unfortunately I had to let it go when the price got up around $200+. I've since read Frank Stanboroughs copy and agree it's a good read. Les Archer would have to be one of the more interesting characters, and his Nortons the most unique in the early days of GP motocross.

And you'd need to be a muscle man to ride that Norton I reckon!
 kind of puts me in mind of Dennis Alderton  riding his 500 twin BSA 'round Moorebank. Come to think of it, it looked more like big Dennis charging 'round the track ,dragging the cumbersome beast along with him!
