Adventure Riding.

It's not VMX but it capture the spirit of the age 8).  On another thread someone was saying how 'back in the day' racers were enthusiast first and motorcycle racers second. They would use their bikes in all sorts of ways that would have the manufacturers either 'freaking out' or very proud that their machines were so overengineered and simply they could be turned to any task and survive. And give the riders barrels of fun and satisfaction.

These pixies are from the US, not sure where but probably in the Rockies or similar. I did something similar on my YDS5 often lead, or lead astray ::), by Paul Giles. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to capture the moment as this snapper has.

Such was the case when I was growing up.  Our transport during the week (my parents didn't own a car) became my dad's adventure bike on weekends.  8)

Graeme...There's a whole link to more of those photos from the fifties trail riding which someone posted on the forum a fair while ago. The photographic quality is amazing and shows some stuff you'd think twice about attempting on a Gas Gas trials bike let alone a full dress Harley Electraglide. I sent the link to Super Hunky and he went apeshit with excitement, he just loved 'em. I seem to remember that the shots were taken either in Northern California or Oregon...the Pacific North West in the early to mid fifties.

Hey Pirie, I like your dads spirit- I mean mum, 4 kids and a cat in the boat and baldy tyres-sounds like you and I came down the same trail, except my dad was a horseman so we have shots of 5 boys on the old palamino mare and shit like that. Oh and no shoes on the horse so very similar/lol

Those were the days......I had hair back then.

My mum was very adept at riding.  She even won a state-wide courtesy trial on the Harley  :o :o
