Gatton swap meet
« on: October 28, 2007, 08:35:36 pm »
Just spent two days doing laps of  the Gatton bike swap meet here in Qld.
There was a 82 ? (black & silver) XT500 23,000 k's clean and tidy. They were asking $6,000. I thought it was a bit rich. But it sold. So the next day another one the same turned up. Same mileage  No indicators and a broken front guard, but still tidy. Lasted a minute and went for $2,500. A 71 Honda st70 Dax with 2,300 miles asking $2,000 went for $1,800 and the buyer was happy to get it for that.
I missed out on a tidy stripped down rt1 ? 250 yam new paint, aftermarket expansion chamber. Very tidy with a fresh motor for $650.
I did score a tidy running 82 IT250 for $650 and a rolling frame XT500C for $300
There was a basket case 75% complete (or is that 25% missing)IT465 for $1,200. Didn't sell.
There was a Bultaco Lobito that looked like it had been stored in the bottom of a dam. Complete with corrosion holes through the cases and fork legs.
One Hodaka tank.
A sad 83 Cr 125 in need of total restoration $950 he took it back home.
Average condition Honda XL500's asking $2,000 and $2,500. Bit rich as you can still pluck them out of the trading post for under $1,000.
Once again I had the time of my life and walked about a thousand miles and got the crap burnt out of me (no time for sunblock).
