Chad's Been Champ For Two Days Now....
« on: August 25, 2009, 04:08:25 pm »
Chad Reed has been the 2009 AMA Outdoor MX Champ for two days now and I haven't seen anything on here about it.  Is he that unpopular down-under or is it just because the site is geared towards Vintage?

I havent seen anything anywhere. But that is really cool. Shows he can ride outdoors as well.

Yes it's all over all the motocross websites. A few of us on here follow the AMA Nats but the majority are just into vintage bikes.

I didn't want to know :'(, I'm waiting to see it on vid ;).

But I've known a few days. I pretty much thought he had it 'in the bag' about 3 meets ago ;). Reedy was riding for the series and his competitors were busily shooting themselves in the foot ::).

AMA in the bag, now for the MX de Nations ;D. Go Reedy, Go Burner 8), who's number three?

There was a short thread on the weekend that covered it. I follow the US scene and have been getting up at 3 AM to watch the live streaming of the first motos at each round which has been great. And yes, fantastic result for Chad. It'll be interesting to see what he does next year.

On a side note, I was surprised at Windham's performance at the last two rounds. Granted he's been taking time off but I'd have thought he'd be a little more competitive. Just goes to show that the talent in both classes is stronger than you'd think reading the forums!

MXoN - Reed, Byrne and Metcalfe isn't it? We'd have to be in with a chance you'd think...

I love the AMA, i watch the 1st 2 moto's live everytime they are on at a time i am able to cast an eye over it! Or watch live timing. Chad has been great this season, probably got a little in reserve if ya ask me... A few of them guys should of been a little further back in some of them motos.
My personal favorite is Jake Moss, he wears his heart on his sleeve 110% everytime the gate drops. I have spoke to him in the states and a few times in OZ, a great guy who is doin us Ozi's proud.
Both Moss boys to TLD HONDA AMA for 2010.
Coppins to Suzuki in Australia?
Jake Moss to Suzuki 450 for Chad Reeds superX
Townley to possibly compete here next year, ready for 2011 in AMA
MXRAD to take over motorex KTM?
Cool Air Kawasaki to be the Only Kawasaki team?
Honda to have only 450f riders for 2010 in Aust
alot of guys are going to be without decent rides next year.. ???
Just a few things getting thrown around ;)
Maico's, the only way to go.

I admit to not following modern MX as much as I used to with so much VMX happening, but even our local TV station reported Chad as winning the "Australian Motocross Championship" the other night - gotta love the accuracy of news reports don't ya.
It is great that Chad (our local Newcastle boy) can say he's been both Supercross and Outdoor MX champ in the 'toughest' competition in the world. He's had plenty of bad luck, as much as the other guys anyway, so good on him for his determination and persistance.

Hurls could prolly just as easily go for the Vets Cup in the National series, and put it to Daryl King and Belly.  Great to see them putting on an age-based national series - hope for us yet!

I think Byrner is staying where he is, especially if the rumours of Alessi leaving Suzuki are correct.
