Anybody know these riders at Ravenswood early 70's
« on: August 20, 2009, 06:40:33 pm »
Found some old shots at Ravenswood back in the 70's (note Holden Monaro) check out the fence poles and how close it is to the track! Does anybody recognize any of the riders?

#67 in the last second last shot. Looks like a MK 3 Pursang. But whats with the yellow plates. Did Bultaco make an open class bike that I've never heard of? Jerry

Here are some shots from the late 60's at Mt Gambier. Note the lack of jumps. The Guy in the leathers is Ace MacQuan (Cool name A) and he lives in Adelaide .The kid on the bike is me and my bro and mum in our EH holden. Can't remeber who the riders are on the track.

Great stuff Hardex. Sorry I can't identify any of the riders but it's refreshing to see that the overall character of great tracks doesn't change much. The layout may vary a little but Ravo and Barrabool still look the same. I've got a soft spot for Ravenswood and those photos, especially the pit shot could have been taken 4 years, not 4 decades ago.
What's the story on the Ducati you're sitting on Hardex? It appears to be a 250 NC Scrambler, the same engine I'm using in my Hindall. Where's the chain?  :D They were slow heavy old things much in need of a hot up and a lighter frame.....by the way, the station wagon is an EJ, not an EH. I love the period 6'' widies ;). The vinyl roof on the HG Monaro wasn't a good look eh? You can bet that if the car still exists, the vinyl won't be there. I notice another Monaro, a green HT GTS in the background behind the EJ wagon.

Hey Hardex, is that the Buck's Hill track near Mt. Gambier?
P.S. These are great shots that really capture the atmosphere. I reckon anyway..............  :-\
