Everytime I say I can't find something bloody cyclegod finds it in a few minutes, so I'm asking him directly this time  ;D.  If anyone else can help out it would be most appreciated too ;).

Looking for a very good to NOS set of side covers for my schmick YZ250H resto and a clutch cover as I can't bring myself to bolt the crap one I have to what has turned out to be a sweet resto (if I do say so myself  ::)  )

Almost any money paid as the budget went out the window shortly after I got started on her (as the missus continually reminds me  ;D.  Finders fee of beer, cash or whatever may also apply for lead on a good set.  I think Vintage plastics has given up or put these on hold and XYZ are an absolute waste of time that I would not even bother with >:(.  mainline has suggested painting NOS yellow ones - could be an option  ::)

PM me or reply here - I'm not shy.

A long shot, but it has worked before.  How good are you CG  ;D ;D ;D
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

Yeah - fair call.  The $10 clutch cover is about the same as mine - gouged to the crap by that toothed brake lever.  The other one I will watch and just check that the IT465 is the same.
Would prefer white side covers, but options getting limited.  Thanks for trying - you aren't as skilled as CG - he normally turns up NOS  ;) ;D ;D :P

Here is the clutch cover (I have checked part #'s for compatbilty)...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-yz465-yz490-clutch-crankcase-cover-nos-new-it465_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem3ef7916ed6QQitemZ270441475798QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

The side covers are another matter, especially if you want white ones, they are rarer than the rocking horse shit dung beetle  :o
It may pay to ask everyone here who have bought reproduction covers which ones fit/look best, Maier,XtremeYZ etc

I can't compete with that can I ::) I'm thinking he has a USB coming out of the back of his head straight into the ebay hard-drive ;D

At least he's not an old testament style revengful Cyclegod, otherwise I'm up for a bloody good smiting for my impertinence.

Seriously though Tony, I spent ages looking for plastics, and you know I've bought aftermarket ones which I can't use. The only NOS white sidepanel I saw (and I only found one) went for $140 US plus shipping, and I need three pieces for my bike. The yellow nos airbox cover was a relative bargain at about $30 US, and as it's the hardest of the three panels to find I was more then willing to put up with painting it.

Out of the other two panels, one has been scraped sanded and polished, the other was so crap I just had to paint it. I think it may even have some car bog in it it was so bad.

good luck

You have done it once again CG  8) - you are the king.  That's why I asked for the help of the master.  After mainline made me feel bad about being a slack prick  ;) I checked "yz side cover" and "yz clutch cover" on US ebay.  Guess what - that one didn't turn up.  NOS is what I'm after and even though it is a bit pricey it is the last piece of the bike that I'm looking for (apart from those bloody side covers).

As far as the side covers go - maybe I will just have to swallow my pride and keep on XYZ's case.  For god's sake I have sent him about 20 emails and I still don't have one piece of merchandise.  All I want to do is give him a wad of cash and he sends me the stuff.  Not too hard you wouldn't think.  Anyway - Wish me luck in the auction.

Don't think I'm not thankful Paul - I appreciate the help  ;) ;D  beers coming

My method of searching is to leave "no stone unturned"

for example: the YZ250 side covers,
I searched (always with worldwide, title and desciprtion, and include store inventory selected)

Yamaha yz250 covers
Yamaha yz-250 covers
yz250 covers
yz-250 covers
yz250g covers
yz-250g covers
yz250h covers
yz-250h covers
yz250 1980 covers
yz-250 1980 covers
yz250 1981 covers
yz-250 1981 covers
yz250 80 covers
yz-250 80 covers
yz250 81 covers
yz-250 81 covers
---------------------repeat all the above but replace 250 with 465
3R4-21711-00-98 ............. this is the US left hand side cover part #
3R4-21721-01-98 ............. this is the US right hand side cover part #
3R4-21711 ............. this is the left hand side cover part # minus the last few digits to allow for variations
3R4-21721 ............. this is the right hand side cover part # minus the last few digits to allow for variations

This type of searching can take a few minutes or hours depending on how persistant you want to be, I found two NOS TM/RM125 mag covers for $90 this way.

Legendary effort as usual thanks CG 8).  One day I will sit down and work out how much shit you have found for me.  One of my prime examples (this wasn't directed solely at me) is the NOS number plate for the 125H for $50US.  They don't make them any more, so thank you so much.
I've got a bad feeling about the clutch cover, but you never know.
Thanks (I'm sure not only from me) for revealing your searches.  Hope to meet you one day to shout you a well earned beer or ten  ;)

That's my next resort Geoff and I was sort of heading in that direction until I ended up trying here (as a last try).  The one I have is cracked around one of the bolt holes (on the bottom where it will leak oil for sure  :( )  If the NOS one falls through I could Get one that's a bit scratched around and bog it up.  I was going to use car body filler and spray putty, but probably something a little more high tech could be in order.  Like one of those epoxies ??
Fingers crossed I can get the one on ebay for less than a new mortgage on the house  ;D and all will be good

i think what Geoffs hinting at Tony is that cases can be repaired with the welder & in a lot of cases
 {get it? cases ;D},
to pay a qualified person to weld and repair them can quite often be cheaper than sourcing a replacement.
i use a bloke here in Brisbane and his work is top notch as i'm sure Geoffs is too.
worth considering.
