Kickstart problems CR500
« on: October 22, 2007, 10:02:15 PM »
The trusty 500 let me down at the DT Nats during practice. A hefty kick to start her up and with a metallic crack the lever stopped dead at the bottom. Back to top, and no engagement through the stroke. I haven't popped the cover to find out what's wrong as yet, any thoughts on what it might be? There appears to be nothing wrong with anything other than the kicker not engaging...

Sounds like the engagement dog has sheared, is the return spring still operating ? regards Jimbo.

The kick start arrangement on that model is very basic. It will probably be the spring loaded engagement key and at worst the internal engagement rebates on the gear. Either way it will be an easy fix.
Fernando will have the parts you require.

Thanks for the advice Rob, sounds straight forward. I'll pull the cover off on the weekend and see what's what in there.
