Question - what would be the best impliment that is available in the US to sign on a tank ?
More info ? well i have a Yamaha tank in the US and i was thinking before i post it ill get it over to Wayne and sue's joint for a bit of a signing.
YEs i know id prefer Ken roberts too but there is little chance of that is there, and anyhow Wayne rainey rode the 500Gp for team roberts so there is some connection there right ?
anyhow here is the deal, what should i ask him to use ?
Sharpie marker ( may comes off with petrol/clear coat - risky)
One of those those paint pens ( but they often are quite Fat and un detailed)
or is there another method that more perminate and looks detailed ?
Ill still be using the tank for rides so ill need to get it clear coated or somthing so it will also not be able to bleed or distort with the thiners in the spray coat ? or SHould i get his to sign a clear sheet or paper or gel and then get that layed into the tank or will that get air bubbles and look shit.
whats the option here, i know some of you collectors have been done this path ?
At the end of the day i want it to look good not some running or messed up fat black lines. IF it F@#ks up getting it resigned is no big deal but the Postage and screwing about would make it not worth the while, so id like to get it right the first time. I have a helmet at home with some big names on it i treasured and due to the marker i used it cant be cleared, so esentially i have a brand new lid i wore a handfull of time, till one ride the bugs hit it and made a mark in the mansell sig and its been in the cupboard ever since. if im going to get it signed off i dont want it to end up like that in a cupboard, otherwise its just not worth it.
HAs anyone had any real success in this area and has it lasted the test of time ?
IM open to any ideas that can get a good result starting at the time of singing onto the best way to preserve it.
