PE 250Z & PE 400X
« on: June 22, 2009, 02:13:24 pm »
For sale 1 x PE 250Z in good original condition (missing speedo, rear gaurd/tail light and front number plate) but starts first-second kick and runs nice. $1400.00-SOLD
PE 400X has been a bodgey rattle can resto attempt. Has aftermarket mudgaurds and rear shocks fitted and all electrics removed in an attempt to convert to RM look-a-like. Has very little compression, hence difficult to start - but a sniff of ether gets her going. $800.00 with a load of spares.

Here's an update on the PE 400 for sale, I invested in a can of "Start ya Bastard" and the beast fired up straight away! So she's a runner   :o - but it still looks ugly  :(

Here is a pic of the 250Z, the tank will scrub up nicely with some scotchbrite and elbow grease. As you can see the bike still has what is left of the original graphics, $36 (UK) buys new stickers for the tank and side panels- thanks Leith ;)

only 175 had black headlight rim in 83 and 84 z model 250 and 400's have the same headlight as a t or x model the z in 250 and 400 are the rarest ones around mainly the 400z as now another 250z has been uncovered i know a few guys with some z's not many though thanks Michael. :)

There seems to be few differences on the 250z and its earlier brothers, to note a few there is:

nylon chain buffers, upper and lower, on the chain guide

different fork innards (these are 250x forks fitted in pic-originals come with the bike, but chrome is pitted around the triples)

different part# on rear shocks

chain gaurd at front sprocket is different

tail light (although I have never seen what this should look like)

levers- dog leg type?

foot brake has folding tip (original comes with bike, but has broken spring)

cosmetics ie. different graphics

possibly a few more differences, but they dont really jump out at you.

also different on the 82 Z compared to 81 X is

different fork sliders and chrome legs with extra bushings
metal bracket under rear fender
rubber mount holding on rear fender
side stand has big foot
reflector on rear fender
theres also differences in the clutch & a few other things in the motor
exhaust manifold
plus a few others that i cant think of now.

i have a full spreadsheet of all the differences between 250 T/X/Z but i havent quite finished it yet

i have just found a copy of a sales brochure of a 82 400 Z Australian model with the metal tail light and blinkers. It is an extremely rare bochure i didnt think existed but the guy wont sell it. He also has 175N brochure with blinkers and battery he wont sell but he did sell me a 250N brochure with AU spec blinkers/battery.

rocketfrog, what part number is on the 250 shocks? im desperately looking for 62103-40600 & 62104-40600
