Nepean questions re Rear tyre / Race Number
« on: June 17, 2009, 09:37:48 pm »
Hello Fellows,
I am going to run the next Stgeorge club day at Nepean (dirt track), I am now a member of STGMCC. Can I use number 95 on a 1978Yz125E or does someone already use that number.
Can I use this rear tyre It is an IRC trail winner. A guy that i got a yz125a from was using this tyre at nepean a couple of years ago. Or would a trials tyre be better
Cheers Brett

Hmmmm,
Not sure Jim,
It's not really a Knobby, and most of the rubber over laps the gaps
I think all that is stipulated is that no Knobbies on rear wheels,
I've heard of people using wet weather road tyre's etc.
something to do with gaps in relation to rubber contact,
need a scrutineer to reply,
Cheers
Noel

i wouldnt run that tyre and i think you have a trials uni on your bikes.i have seen the scrutineer knock back a 65cc bike with a tyre like that on.he was persuaded to pass it as what real damage would a 65 do to the track.if they were ok to use other people would use them. look at all the pic in track and see all have trials unis on

Yes your right Jim,
I do have trials tyres on my bikes at the moment,
and no I would not buy that sort of tyre if given the choice,
but I did run a similiar tyre (may be not quite as aggressive) on a DR 250 I had a couple of years ago
because it was what i had
and was not questioned about it

cheers
