MX track at Mount Panorama, is it in use?
« on: June 04, 2009, 12:59:59 pm »
In my travels recently I discovered a motocross track just off the side of the hill at Mcphillimy Park. ;D Its probably been there for years but because of its location its not so obvious. Its not run down and has a starting gate and a back hoe was sitting near a couple of sheds, so can only assume its still in use for moderns. Interesting looking track which snakes its way up and down the hill with no apparent nasty or deadly jumps. Probably a bit tough for a pre 75 but i'm sure would be perfect for pre 78 and beyond. I'd love to have a ride around it. Anyone know much about it, its history, who runs meetings there and if there is an evo class on race days?  ???

i don't know toomuch, but i do know it dates back to at least 1990 as i did the  Ivan Mauger promoted 1990 Australian Long track GP at Bathurst showgrounds, as a side event they had an MX at this track which looked quite new then. i believe the Mount Panorama motor cycle club runs this track.

Thanks Paul, looks like a very active club, might join and have a go at a practice day sometime soon.
