Yamaha DT1 Piston
« on: May 25, 2009, 10:59:16 pm »
I'm in need of a DT1 piston, either single ring or two rings if necessary, standard 70mm if possible.

US Ebay has lots of standard bore DT1 pistons, and they're cheaper than you'll find here (even allowing for freight and the currency conversion).

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

got the part number you want - what size.

i got a box coming from the states with YAm pistons so i can back check also if the size is in there.

price depends what they own me, you might find one cheaper but normally i pay between $19 -50 usd depending if its a kit or single and what oversize 3 and 4 are always dearer, have wiseco but there all P6 plus and have the half moon backs

how soon do you need it ?

make sure you get full skirt both sides for piston port.1 kit should cost you no more than 80.00 us and som as less as 50.00 del to your door.these will be piston rings gudgen and little end.do not buy nos wisco as they were shit when they were new back in the 70s.they had a nick name we grow as you go.new wisco stuff is good but stuff from the 70s was crap best stick to gen yamaha
just my 2 cents worth and experience with a dt1 in eary 70s.mine was fast it had a 34mm pumper carby on it.used 1 wisco it shit itself replaced with gen no problems.
nos wisco pistons are avalable for my cz400 but i will not put them in.would pay double for gen cz.i just have.

The 'Old Wiseco's' in the sky blue boxes, baking in the oven @ 200C for an hour conditions the piston. You only THEN have the cylinder bored to that size.An 85mm piston grew to 85.05mm on me, after the baking they are quite stable.

I know the box you mean Matt, my rule is if I see the old logo then I bake, and when in doubt I bake.

Freakshow, I would prefer a genuine single ring Yamaha piston either standard or 1st over with ring. I don't know what the part numbers are for Yamaha parts, perhaps someone knows the right numbers and could advise.

plenty of dt1mx single ring piston kits on usa fleece bay but you have to check the sellers post charges some want $10/12 bucks and up to $30 for the same kit it seems to me they sell the parts cheep and make up the difference on post and try to pass the blame on to the post service,i got a set of rings from the states and paid $5 for post and when i got them it had a 55cent stamp on the box needless to say the seller got a pm to get the balance back on the threat of neg feedback calling him a post theif

Plenty of 2 ringers and singles in the 214 series DT1, but cant say i have seen a single ring for a PP piston eva, get me a part number and ill look, but im sure i only have twin or single rings in Dt1mx windowed not in PP

everything i have is either 234,289,238 wiseco in all the P's and then 214,401,285,313,322,354,364,363 and whatever variations are of them
