initial engine number TS2503-102612 thru to TS250/4-10001

initial frame number TS2503-102989 thru to TS250/4-10001

I am of the belief the '76 model runs an electrofussion type bore. The first and only TS250 model to do so. The engine was also painted black unlike all the earlier models.

Are the cases all the same for the TS 250 1971 to 1979 with only the 1976 having the same insides as the TM250 ?

At this stage I am only after the case to use on the TM250

79 cases are the same thru to about 82 or the last ER model. and im sure the 76, 77 and 78 case are the same as 79. pretty much all the black engines are the same with only minor differences  like fining and barrel rubbers carb size and there is a difference in first gear. the first couple black motors had a a tall first gear and then they went to the TM first gear after that or it was around the way, im not sure. its been a while since ive delt with one of these. i cant remember exactly which is the first black motor. i do know that a TM trans fits into my 1980 TS 250 if that helps you. the 71 cases would be different to the black motors as they have a case reed valve. if your wanting to swap gear sets then first compare bearing part numbers. never heard of one having a chrome bore. im sure ive got articles on 76 models but they never mentioned that so thats new news to to me.
Wanted - 1978 TS185 frame or frame&motor. Frame # TS1852-24007 up to TS1852-39022

Check part numbers for gearbox similarities and differences here http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm
I think you will find that the 77-81 250 bottom ends were all crankcase reed type and the 76 had a wide spacing for its
barrel as other models that year went from two transfer ports to four/six ports.
Ban BLACK rims NOW

Yup..Halo's onto it..the 76 ts250a was the last of the old design (aka TM250) it shares the same mag cover and right side clutch pinion setup as the TM250 and the cases 'will' house TM250 internals if you so deside. You may need to blank off the pushrod hole with a TM blank but it's a straight forward swap. The only thing of any real interest that swaps from the later 78 and on case reed induction type motors are the output shaft (maybe), clutch plates, piston, rings , pin, brg, clips and con rod and lower end bearing etc. The rest you can pretty much say was totally new design.
