what are the legalitys of running vfoce reeds in a pre 85 bike

I would have thought that if it can't be seen from the outside then they should be okay?

I guess it depends on whether reeds are considered a major component?

Internal I thought was pretty much anything goes with the exception of the gearbox?

Eligibility, however you discuss it is always a funny one.

A substantial number of riders use aftermarket (ie current manufacture) shocks which boast multi adjustable everything, front forks fitted with PD valves, fat bars, upgraded (modern) ignitions etc etc.

I would have thought a reed block would be tolerated in much the same way even though V Force are good kit, otherwise a serious review of the abovementioned may be needed ?

i agree, so why is a V-force not allowed then? what if you machine 'V force' writing of the side the reed block so you cant see it. It will just look like a normal yammy reed block then, who will know?

My reading of the rule is if the engine came OEM with a reed the the CAGE is free. I have made the point before but banning V-Forces is a silly rule as unlike the period GEM blocks that fetch insane money anyone can buy a v-force for reasonable money and get miles better results.

Hi
Can anybody advise me what VFORCE deed black fits a 1978 Honda CR250 Red Rocket. I would appreciate knowing options available. My entire reedblock cage looks a little suspect.
I really appreciate all the help.

78-86 should be interchangable as the all use the same cage gasket

there is a few v force blocks floating round on the vmx bikes capps, if u cant run aftermarket reeds, well u cant run aftermarket ohlins shocks.. the shocks will make u alot quicker than the reeds will :-\

i have a gem reed block from74 on my elsinore 250 and it is the same design as the new v force so it shouldnt be a problem new ones are plastic and my gems alloy... big advancements

G'day Caps, if starting is you problem maybe i can shed some light on how i fire my 85' CR500 up. i'm not a tall bloke but rather stocky (ok then i'm a porker) i had heaps of trouble when i first got it. now i have it nailed. Big bore two strokes need a decent charge in them when cold, not many blokes can kick them over like a 250, so this is what works for me.

on a cold day when it hasn't been started that day or the day before, i pull the plug out and give it a good squirt of "start ya Bastard" or aerostart, put plug back in , choke on, apply easy slow pressure to kickstart (not a kick) until i feel it rock just over TDC, a good handfull of throttle and a big Kick and it fires 1st or second time.

after it has run and warmed up, mine starts  1st or 2nd kick every time on race day if it is not too cold (less than 10 degrees like ravenswood in the middle of winter)

 you may laugh but this work for me.  Good luck.

The V force reed block is filled in inside the cage to improve the flow compared to a vintage style reed block but i still don't think they should be illegal.
