XL rear wheel

Hi,

Some one told me that an SL 350 rear wheel will fit into a XL and the SL wheel is lighter and has a cush drive?

Can any one confirm this before I try and find an SL wheel.

XL has a cush drive....can't imagine there would be any/much weight difference either.

Had both at same time , they are different rims, waste of time to change to the SL350 steel wheel , Stick with the XL wheel.
SL350 parts are now sought after for road restos, A rear would be hard to find in good order and most likely not be cheap, I do have a rear and at least 4 of the 19 inch twin leading shoes front brake set ups.

chris it is the go to change if you find one
the sl350 twin rear wheel is about 8 lb lighter
believe it or not
and goes straight on  ;)

2160 grams including old dirt and oil difference in the SL favour according to the ones I just weighted (bare without brake assemblies or sprockets). You will have to muck about with spacers as surprise the swinging arms are not the same width.

Its worth the exercise the next think is to get a Sl hub and backing plate?

Has any one got a hub for sale?

Also would a tl 250 or an xl 175 wheel work?

So how does it come to weigh 8lb less? as in, are we talking the total wheel (hub and rim complete)? or is it that steel bearing holder bit on the XL that does it?

Must be. Thought the road biased SL350 wheel would be the boat anchor. (and still do!!!)  Tim.      Hey hampster now you have chucked other different wheels into the plot...
