RM Pistons
« on: September 30, 2007, 06:16:22 pm »
Does anyone have any options for me, I'm looking for O/S piston + rings for my 79 RM400N. I was dealing with Rick Horvat in the US but for some reason he has gone mute on me, Emails get returned by postmaster saying address is invalid? Anyway I still have to source a piston and rings so can anyone help?

no no no..you read wrong oldmotoxer..they may not have the rings as an individual item but they have what's called a piston set  1x piston and 1x ring to suit in 0.25 or 0.50. I bought an 0.50 kit (set) from Alphasports for my 400 a few months back and it cost me about $125US delivered within the week 8) part number 12103-40870-050 $89.40 + $36.00 EMS express post. (Set is $93 now but our dollar is riding high) These sets were not listed in OZ part lists and you will get a stupid blank look if you ask at a dealer..mind you having the number may help in this regard but I doubt it would be a shelf item if unlisted  ;)

err.. :P planning a visit? me and dodgee?..okay! ;D I've been a slug in collecting those round thingys sorry :-\

the ring set (single ring only) part number would be 12141-41220-050 or 0.25 suffix accordingly.

Shame zooki didn't go out to 1mm over like the 370's..I guess they didn't expect them to last that long let alone entertain the thought we'd still be riding them 27 or so years later 8)
