Those things look good but they're overdone for a dirt bike.

with the honda, nothing much stands out apart from the blue drain plug and the gold sprocket.

on the yamaha, the orange brake stay, the gold barrel & gold tank cap, blue cap on rocker box and really polished motor i dont see anything else really wrong with it.

There is a fine line between overdone and underdone. I just see it that these guys have taken a little extra care and time with things and havent be constrained buy budgets and didnt just think 'oh that will do' and leave a few dull average parts etc on there, plus they wanted something that will stand out a bit.

The Yamaha looks overdone to me.. not into the gold and polished cases, chrome exhaust and chrome footpegs and brake pedal. That stuff is for road bikes. The Honda just needs black hubs.

yeah i know what you mean about the yamaha motor, but i could almost live with the chrome muffler, but would do it myself. Gold motors are nothing new though. There was model of Matcheless/AJS that had a gold cases or gold barrels well before the HL came along, but its just something i would not not do.

I think its a bit like some of the DG parts, if they were that color in the day then why not. I think the show scene in the UK is much more developed, probably something to do with the weather.

I think it is cool for bikes to be a bit different, but how far do you go. ::)

There's Bling and then there is Bad Taste ::).

But then what else can you do in those long cold damp Pommy winters other than a bit of alloy polishing and chroming :P.

I don't think either of those bikes are over the top. I saw shinier and woggier in the pits at CD5. Let's not forget Jonesys candy apple purple Metisse.
