there are some high price items floating at the moment - there is also a set of Ohlins Factory Fork and Fox factory Forks at $1795 and $1700USD each.

A beautiful resto, even if I don't like the appearance of the stark white and red. I would have thought the price is reasonable at the mo.

One of the two original factory ME360's that were imported into the US (through Al baker's shop) was up for sale last month.  This current one would be nice to race or show, but the other was a real piece of history.  It got to $9,800 US but didn't meet the reserve

Red i was watching that Mugen on ebay, i thought it would've made $10,000 easily. Are they not that desirable in the US anymore? I had a genuine Fox 360 Mugen that was imported from the US a few years ago but sold it to fund some other projects. I think the last person to own it paid more than that for it.

MarcFX is so correct - there have been several bikes that would of pulled a big price 12-18 months ago and now barely get a nibble - even for less money.  Owneers still want to sell but buyers just aren't there.  Maybe the latest $1.1 Trillion US from the G20 might help  ;D

Prices are going in the right direction, down. Bikes should be restod to be used, not put in a bloody museum. Luckily here in sweden late -70 early -80´s bikes hardly ever go for more than 3000 AUD. No matter if they are rare/ have racing history. It just makes me sick when people use bikes to speculate with... Older bikes like early Rickman/BSA, Huskies, Litos and so on, restod for racing, cost something like 7000-8000 AUD which still is affordable if you got that itch  ;) Ofc if they are really trick and a collector buy one they tend to go for more :-/

sounds good, if Bengt ever wants to sell his old HL I will offer him 3 grand for it. OK $3200 if he chucks in the 3 valve head.  ::)

Hihi!

Well, it´s actually a quite funny history with the 3 valve head. Swedish engine designer Nils Hedlund made the 3 valve head but that you propably know. What many people don´t know is that Yamaha destroyed the casting moulds, no one knows why... propably because they where in the starting blocks to release their big 2 stroker and wnated to avoid 4-stroke competition. Otherwise motocross history might have looked different, more manufacturers might have continued/ taken up 4-strokers into and maybe through the eghties... But i guess we´ll never know now will we  ;)

If I meet Bengt I´ll give him your offer marcFX. I paid 2900 AUD for my Curtis Honda a couple of years ago, but yeah, guess you´re right Marc, unusuall bikes and especially 4-strokers just might land a wee tad over 3000 AUD  ;)

Hey Jens,

you know Nils was smarter than your average bear and he built a 3 valve head with funding from Yamaha. The story i heard (it came from Japanese engineer), Nils design and some of the head designs Yamaha were working on themselves were very close. So no regretable incidents arose at the patents office it was better to make Nils head disappear.
