Let's not all let rip again on pro pre-90/against pre-90, shall we?  'Nother time, 'nother thread.

I never said you won't be able to ride this track on a pre-78 bike.  I meant that your average pre-78 guy won't get no flow going.  You'll have a lot of speeding up between jumps, then slowing right down (cause the jumps will elevate you straight up in th air if you don't hit them faster or slower than, well, what 'we' normally hit jumps at).  Then when you land, and hopefully not lost too much speed, you ride a bit more, then flop down over the end of the tabletop down to the ground again, from even higher heights you you're used to before.  Lots of times per lap.

That to me is not what I call fun cause you can't get any flow going, its stop and start.

Given none of us have ridden the track I am not sure we can make any sort of call about how it's going to work for different levels of ability or bike. It's a big track alright, but the club has gone to pains to ensure it'll work for all levels of rider. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm happy to ride to suit the track and see what comes of it. It really does look like fun, and it's all brand new. Now that's gotta be something different.

Dennis reckons we'll be bypassing all the whoops and he'll do a bit of work on some of the jumps to take the edge ioff, so I can't see these being any more of a worry than say Glenbawn or the old Kembla (or even Oran Park cos I remember that one was fun too).

The best bit for me is the widening of the track and the new track composition. I am fingers crossed it'll be a lot loamier to ride than the way it used to be. I was looking at some old video from back a few years ago and the track was so rutted out, dry, skatey and generally crappy. It has come such a long way from that, and to have to up to twice as wide sounds like, welll... Heaven!

I am not an active member of the ACT club, but I will say they've done a magic job over the past few years really bringing that track from an old minibike track to an international standard motocross track. If this all comes off and we start to see some big events here, I reckon you could do a lot worse than get to flog your own bike around it.

And I reckon the next round of HEAVEN will be a vintage meeting. We'll be amongst the first to ride on it, it'll be in tip top shape, and we'll be able to offer feedback on how to make it even better.  I'm getting keener all the time! Bring it on, I say.

Now, if I can just stop the gearbox oil pouring out the countershaft seal, it'll all be good.

Hah, betcha I've crashed more times there than you. If there was anywhere to fall off and whack myself on the ground really hard, I found them all. I'm figuring the new track will work better for me - it just has to be softer with all that composted sandy stuff on the surface.

The best bit is the new 40 gate grid. man, I can't wait to line up on the RM with 39 other desperate Pre 78 125s. How cool will that be.

Ummm... there ARE 39 other desperates with Pre 78 125s IN the club, aren't there?

Cant argue with that, its definateley a common occurance coming round a berm to find you having a little R & R ;D

Might have to come and water the track again for you snowy nothing like a bit of carnage::) :P

On another note, Would like to think that Dennis would top/round off the kickers off the tabletops, can only replace so many downpipes in a season :-\

I reckon that there probably would be close to that number - its just a matter of getting everyone of them to the one event...

You.
Me.
Bill.
Noel.
Neville.
Lisa.
Stewie.
Jens.
Peter B.
Don.
Glenn.
Rodney.
Rick A (or is his RM a later model?).
Rodger.

I'm sure there's more, but I got bored while typing.

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Sorry Nathan you'll have to scratch me off that list! Don't get back from Singapore in time, sure would have liked to give you a run!
Not sure how the old pre 70's will like this track, the RT1 has a new GMC downpipe being fitted this week I,m just wondering whether it would survive, best keep it for the dirt track.

Nifty

Well Just Back from out at the Track in Canberra .

Well Nice Loam track 8 meters wide .

and Yes some of the Jumps are longer yes Longer so it harder to clear them
not many of us VMX did any way.

Some parts are FFFFFFFFFFast ....
No slow bits near the Cannteen all replace witha BIG Banked Corner .
Fast Flat turns .
Always said Canberra Was a 250 cc track and it still is .
But  I would Love to Get the 495cc or 420cc out of the Back shed and give them
a go ..

So to night when all had whent home I got to get in a few laps practice in.
Got around all ok.
Lap times were a bit down in My Mazda truck But I had a FUN ...

So if a Mazda can go around all ok the I think a Maico , Honda ,suzuki, Husky and even a Bully can do it ....

.
