love their work, an 88 model advertised as an 86, and an 86 as an 88 ;D

First bike is an 88, I think - but could be an 89??? Can't think off the top of my head what the visual clues are between an 88 and an 89. Edit: its an 88 - the 89s have the rounder holes in the rad shrouds + low-boy pipe.
The silver rims, fine-slots in the front brake rotor, red shock spring all rule it out as being an 86 or 87 model.
They're also a darker red, but 20 years of fading, along with variations in lighting, cameras and monitors make it hard to rely up that...

Second bike is an 86, and a pretty nice one. And 87 model looks basically the same, except for a rear disc and the seat goes all the way up to the filler cap.

Pretty sure that the third bike in an 87 model, fitted with an 89 seat/seat cover. You can see the difference between the colour of the seat cover and the plastics - the plastics should be very similar in colour to the cover.
If the price stays low-ish, I'm going to have a crack at this one.

FWIW, here's a pic of my 87 model. Someone has messed with the cosmetics to make it look like a later model:
seat cover and fork boots should be blue;
front number plate should be made of red plastic
all number-plate back-grounds should be black;
Honda wing sticker on the rad shroud shoud be red-white-blue (these are 88 model stickers);
Front wheel is from an 84 or 84 model (silver rim + drilled disc rotor).

On my monitor, this photo shows the actual 83~87 orangey-red colour quite well.

Can't think off the top of my head what the visual clues are between an 88 and an 89.

One obvious clue is the 89 was the first of the upside down forks.

only on 250's and 500's, '89 CR125's had conventional forks

here is a reference for all those confused..

sorry to jump in on your trainspotting Nathan, but I think the third one is an 88 going by the radiator shrouds and the shape of the rear number plate.

Also apart from the seat the rear number plate is different between the 86 and 87. Plus they didn't some standard with a shark bite like yours. ;D

Happy to be wrong, but I can't see any difference in the numberplates or shrouds of the third bike and mine?
Plus third bike has blue shock spring.

now this is getting confused ;D

No, the third bike is the same as yours, I was saying the '86 model (bike # 2)has a different rear numberplate to the '87 (and seat, as you pointed out)

(and no shark bite)

I'm with Nathan 87 125 is the older red and has been fitted with a 89 seat (or seat cover) but forget that shit how the hell is it fitted with a compliance plate?? that is the real question ??? would be worth the dollars just from that?
