G'day viewers I thought I would share this little all deal with you lot as its a age thing and most of us aren't spring chickens about a month or so ago I went to the Doc's for a check up and he said I had a mole on my back that should be removed well that mole was melanoma cancer  :'(  . So the Doc sends me to a skin specialist and he takes another chunk of flesh out of my back and says he's got it all but from now on come back every six months for a check up. I'm writing this so maybe more of you get checked out for this shit as its scared me  I don't take my shirt off in public and haven't done for a very long time the specialist said the damaged is done when we are young.So get it checked out before it checks you out  jimson

ive had three removed two on my back some what small but the one on my chest was a spot about 5mm by 5 mm and they took have my bloody chest of   and then made me pay for the consult 


but truth be known guys dont let it happen its realy a scary thing when the doctor tells you you have cance even if its only a spot the word frightens the shit outa you

Jimson, your warning is noted as was a little news snippet I saw the other day: scientists have isolated the enzyme that enables the metastisis (spread) of cancerous tumours. Ninety percent of deaths due to cancer are caused by metastisis. I worked in a cancer (radio) therapy hospital for 10 years and it's a huge step forward in the battle against cancer. Please don't take this news as an excuse to ignore Jimsons advice because once the primary tumour has metastisised it's a bugger to cure.

Do yourselves a favour and get along to the doc and talk to him /her about checking for other areas of concern esp Protate cancer. Last time I went it was just the blood test and other times the blood test and the finger of shame  , lol!

If it's good enough for the ladies to get poked and prodded, and have their breasts squashed in a mamogram machine or ultrasound imaging we should not be dumb f&%#^rs and deny we can be affected by what are in the main very treatable illnesses.

I try for a check up once a year which is a damn sight less attention my bikes get!!!

Been in twice over the years to have that bloody little prostate checked....
both times I asked about the blood test and both times I got the "Hellooo " check.
My Father in Law was taken by the P.C. and wife is having troubles with the B.C.
So yeah, check things out before you wish ya had.

yeah I have PC on both sides of my family, so I hav no issue with getting checked, mardi gras comes but one a year

 i had my prostate [valve?] removed about 15 yrs ago. the first doc said don't worry about those symtoms that's normal at your age[56]. the second doc said 'see this specialist.' consequently i'm still around....a month ago i saw my current doc about an annoying wart on my back, she cut it out, sent it away and you guest it 'the second worst type of skin cancer'! fortunately the pathologist said its all out but she sent me off to see a specialist next week .the moral of these stories is that its up to YOU to take the right steps.the doctors job is to help. cheers wally.

You don't realise how much of this shit goes on until you lift the lid.It was very scary at first. I had the first bit I had cut out was on a weeks holiday then I was told it was canceres I was back at work so I informed my manager I would need a week off and I told him why he said not a problem take the week after I returned to work the big boss had the shits and told me I have taken a week of his buisness away from him  He is so far up him self he looks through his anal passage to see his face  jimson

Makes one realize we are not immortal and life does not go on forever like we once thought. My father passed away from metastatic melanoma a couple of years back. He was 72 and still had plenty of living to do. Best advice I have from this experience is get a second opinion on everything suspicious! The initial mis-diagnosis pretty much set off a whole chain of events that eventually proved fatal I'm a little bitter with the medical profession over this as there are still quacks out there who don't know what the hell they are doing or even looking at!

Yep, the skin cancer thing is a bit of a worry for me.
I spent too many years on building sites and surfing.
Apparently us Queenslanders lead the World in dying from this particular cancer.

I'm 49 soon; in my estimation I've had something like 50 spots burnt off and six or seven cut out.
That's arms, legs and face so far.
Two of the 'cut outs' came back positive - all this in the last three years.
I've visited a few of those skin cancer clinics during this time.
I'm told many of these Operators are average Doctors (GPs) who have found a niche market.
There's some big bucks to be made 'scanning' people apparently.

First bloke I went to was sh!tty at me for having so much sun damage!
I was there for a check up, not a stern admonishment.
No point getting cranky at me now!

Anyway, I get my own GP to burn off the dodgy looking bits and cut the really sus ones.
Once each year I'm making an effort to see a Skin Specialist (maybe that should increase to twice..)
Got a referral a couple of days ago as it happens.

Good onya for raising the issue jimson; any thread Nazis got the sh!ts were not talking bikes?

Every Aussie aged between 45 and 49 inclusive is entitled to one comprehensive health check under Medicare.  I recommend everyone in that age group asks their doctor to give em one.  Most of them are bulk billed (I know....work for Health Dept) and buys you a good amount of quality time with the doc.  They should check everything - blood test for chlorestorol, iron, insulin etc etc, skin check, bodily functioning, mental health, everything.  It doesn't pay for followup treatment/s if necessary, but blood tests are free at least.

I had the check late last year and as a result got one basal cell carcinoma cut off my mug - good riddance.  Go get em guys, and live longer as a result.  Just say you want 'the 45 yr old health check'.
