did ktm release a 81 495 mx   into the australian market or only a endeuro version and  what is the difference in engine

I also noticed there were other models XC ( i asume x country) MC (mx) I don't know if the xc had lights? or what the differences were. Was'nt the pure enduro version the gs which was only in 420 not 495? Dennis common help us out...

the reason i ask this  i was on ebay this morning and asked some one who was selling a 495  ktm and he tried to tell me they only sold gs models in australia  (just a bit more ebay bullshit) so i thought hey ask the boys on here they will know

Yes Ktm did do a MX and Gs .

Gs  had lights , 5 speed gear box ,a hoop of the rear mud grad , speedo and a Choke on the handle bars.

Mx  4 speed , no choke , floating rear brake , smaller tank .

Most of the ktm that come into Oz where Gs, whith Mx parts

Not many 495 came Less than 30 in 1981

By the way the one on Evil _bay amd on this Forum it looks to me it mite be a MX 1981 495/420 cc

need to check the engine No# it will look like this ..

  *1-563- ********  will be a 495cc

  *1-560-*********  Will be a420cc
