It was interesting that Jody Weisel wrote in this article that he never went faster on any bike than he did on his 500 automatic Husqvarna . Although he also wrote that he never finished a moto on it.

He says that it was a one off special , at the end of the Husky auto production run , so maybe it was a stroked '88 430 auto with a watercooled 500 top end . I have never had any failures when racing my 500AE , but I have broken first gear springs & the freewheel sprag clutch bearings in the final drive shaft, when practicing .
