Akronts are no longer. They are now Morads ( same mudcatcher profile but they also do other profiles like takasago) contact John Titman racing in Queensland or the place where they get them from which is CWC http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/

Thanks LWC3077,
I am trying to buy second hand ones at the moment.
If I can not find any I will buy Excel rims for $240.00 here in Australia.

No Paul the ones on the CZ are fine at this stage but I have purchased CZ hubs from the states and S/S spokes from England and now have to put the two together.

Hello Ji Gantor
How good do they need to be?
The ones I have are shouldered Akronts from late 60s and early 1970s Bultacos and they have seen a bit of action involving rocks by the looks of it ie some gouges and not completely round on both sides.

I should have known you would have what I need.

Good evening David.

I would like them not to have flat spots or cracks.
After all if you have laced a wheel you will not want to do it as a temp measure.
Take another look in that big shed you got, or better yet send me those Ossa wheels.

Thanks Ji

The spare OSSA wheels are shoulderless Akront! Nice rims but they don't have the right look.
But of course you are right. I should have a good look for better shouldered rims - in the daylight.

Hi David,
When you say shouldered rims do you mean "Mud Catchers" WM2
I am after non Mud Catchers WM1 rims
But that said I will take Mud Catchers if that is what is available.

Thanks Mate

I don't think I have any shoulderless Akront rims available for sale but I just went up the shed before to lock up and I saw at least one very nice nice front shouldered/mudcatcher Akront rim. Still more looking to do there.
Time to put the kids to bed.

LWC3077,
That is a great web site,
They have all the dimensions of the rims inside and out.

I will have to ask them how much they want for a set of rims.

Thanks Ji

Hi Feetupfun,
If you can find two straight sided rims that would be great but the Mud Catchers will be alright as long as I can get a matching pair.

Thanks Mate

Hi Feetupfun,

Happy ending.
After threatening to cut Ron's Bultaco Sherpa T with a live plasma cutter his memory of where my wheel was became quite clear. Good old Ron.

Tip of the day,
Never send one of your VMX mates to pick up parts for you if the parts will fit onto his bike.
You may end up with your mates burnt out parts.
