YZ125 tank

Hello.
I got a YZ125-76 tank for my HL-replica. I want to pull out some dents before I paint it, therefore I need to know if the alloy is good for welding. Has anyone of you welded these tanks before?

Have welded many tanks, they all weld fine with TIG, forget trying to do one with MIG.

a bloke here was selling a plastic tank from an early tt250 , they look very similar and have the big tunnell for the mono , any use ?

My plan is to drill and thread some say 4-5mm holes in the dent, then use screws and heat to pull them out a bit. Then weld up the hole. Anyone with better ideas?

Not a good way to do it.
Tanks tend to have flattish sides & getting the sides of the tank right is the hardest part.
Welding on the sides to fill the holes can often make the sides suck in a bit.

One way is to take the tank apart at the seems, panel beat, then weld back together.
This can produce good results but can also be very time consuming. Often the seams can have mounts etc. over top of them or joining the halves together making it hard to get them apart & back together.

My preferred way is via keyhole surgery by means of holes in the underneath side to allow dolly bars to push the dents out. You need to be able to feel the tank to judge when they are right & holes in the side would also make that hard.
I usually pre-polish so I know they look right then weld the holes up underneath.

Both methods GMC suggested is what i would recommend and also do with steel tanks, and are the methods that most professionals use. I do not know any professionals that use those other sorts of methods like air and filling with water and freezing so i i think that says something.

This isn't going to be a polished bare aluminium tank, I'm going to paint it. Just wanted to pull out the dents a bit reduce the thickness of the bodyfiller required.
Since I don't have a Alu-TIG myself I have to send it away for welding, therefore I wanted to keep the welding to a minimum.

-GMC, Can you sell me a leftside HL-exhaust without the fittingbrackets welded on? What's your price on these exhausts?
