DT1 kick starter
« on: September 18, 2007, 10:45:15 pm »
G'day viewers I was just wondering if any of you blokes know if there is a swap over kick starter for the DT1 the original one sticks out to far and is in the way when you ride the bike.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Ag/AT1/CT1 levers have the same splines as the DT1/RT1.
Don't know whether they hit on anything when fitted to the biggers bikes, though.

I have never tried either kickers but I doubt that the AT1 kicker is going to be any sort of advance over the DT/RT. From memory both are fixed at the bottom with the top folding out. I would guess you would face the same ankle busting bulge at the bottom.

I would suss out the DT/MX 250 360 kickers, they folded close to shaft and I think have about 30mm less bulge where it counts. You would have to check with the kick through clearin everything. I have both here, it an agrovation but I might see if I can check it out for you. Most certainly the top of the DT kicker sits in closer to the top of the motor.

Nah, the AT1 lever is straight - no bulge at all. This is why I thought that there might be clearance problems on the DT1 (frame, brake pedal, etc) - the bend must have been put there for a reason(!?).

i've tried a dt250a kick lever on my Rt1 and she's a no go!
the spline is the same but it hits on my pipe and doesn't rotate around the case area properly.
i'm pretty sure this is the same lever as used on the DT2MX but that bike used a different clutch case.
perhaps Firko might know some more from his DT1 from hell.
i'll be sticking with the origional RT lever for my bike and will run it mounted a'la' lay-back style so my leg clears it when hangin off the back of the bike.
i tried it full forward but it just didn't seem right.

I've still got the original DT1 kicker on both the 'DT1 from Hell' and the new RT1 I'm building. I was also hoping someone would have a cool alternative. Someone once told me that a TY250 kickstarter tucks away nicely but I've never tried it.

I scored a kickstarter today at the wreckers $45 it looks great but the shaft it sits on isn't longer enough to take it I was thinking of trimming the knuckle down a bit but I don't want to weaken it. What do you blokes think?
