TT500 Bargain.

This ratty looking TT500 on the Mark Holloway Swap Meet site would have to be a great bargain, purely for the Simons forks and White Bros/Profab swingarm. The only problem is that it's on the East Coast of the USA which puts it in the geographically undesirable area. If it was on the west coast it'd be far more cost effective.

Your right firko, all the bargains seem to be on the wrong side for shipping to the east coast of OZ.

I have been spending more time looking at ebay in the U.K. as the exchange between the pound and the oz dollar hasn't seemed to taken much of a pounding (pun not intended) compared to the U.S.dollar.
Although the British don't seem to want to ship anything, must be too cold outside

Yeah Evo....Dealing with the UK is usually a pain in the arse. Overall they don't like sending stuff outside of the UK, rarely return emails (Simon Cheney is the worst) and are often rude. Both myself and another mate have had ugly dealings with the Basil Fawlty of eBay, one " hondartl " who among other things demanded that I pay his PayPal fees before he sent me my item! The shipping costs out of the UK using Royal Mail are disgraceful and it's rare to find a Brit seller who will go the hard yards and try and find a cheaper alternative. Luckily Jonesy and I have found a great bloke by the name of Ben Penny, a pre 65 and HL racer, who we've been using as a shipping address for those Poms who won't send overseas. Jonesy has bought a couple of speedway and grass track bikes in recent times and Ben has gone to great lengths to box them up and ship them to OZ. Not wanting to overtax his kindness, both Alan and I have ben trying to find a shipper who can ship simply in a similar manner to our American connections but we've had no luck so far. I bought a Matchless Metisse from a Pom a couple of years ago but the shipping became such a drama the seller and I mutually canned the deal.
If anybody has any input on shipping out of the UK I'd love to hear it.

there's a bunch of nice TTs on US ebay at the moment, but there is not really enough in it to make it worth the hassle of shipping. I find with the UK you do better calling than emailing, one BSA specialist told me it is just such a hassle for him to ship anything even inside the UK that he has just about given up that part of his business.

And therein lies the difference between the Yanks and the Poms. Nothing seems to be any trouble to most American sellers or merchants but it's all one big hassle to the Poms. I've had better luck buying second hand Cheney parts from the USA than new stuff from the manufacturer. It's the same with parts for my Jag. It's easier and half the price to buy nearly every part from the USA. You'd think you'd get better and cheaper service from the cars homeland but that's not the case. (Is the car reference counted as a thread hijack?)

Mark Cook is one of the good guys if you need old CCM/ BSA single stuff.

Seems like manufacturing business has been over regulated and sent broke and the banks were under regulated and have sent the rest of us broke.

I don't know why you're moaning about Poms. I'm a pom and three out of four parcels haven't arrived for me in the last year. So far the posty has "mislaid" a carb,mudguard and swingarm. They each only had to travel about 100 miles!
But my parcel from New Zealand was fine.....

I think if you had a reliable courier service in the UK you  would probably do quite well.
