.... hurt my Knee and arm pretty bad, spent a week in Hospital,...
Wow :o that musta been a good get off. I've had some good get offs in my time but the only time I spent a week in hospital was with a broken leg :P. I hope you are recovering well.

I had a Kattie 360 EXC; they grab your attention don't they. Really too much of too much for most trail riding. I remember once I was cornering to the left in a very sporting manner, threw my shoulder and body to the left to make a correction and my bunched gloves accidentally brought on some throttle. Of course the bike responded with an immediate burst of power and speared straight ahead and off the track :o ::). Survived that one but it brought new respect for the 360 ;) :).

Monday morning, I had put in a leaner needle, the 360 was running way to rich, the phone rang and it was the Boss,
Truck won't be ready till tonight..
So back out to the shed i go, I'll just go for a quick spin to see how she goes,  (acres of bush behind our house) I only had jeans and a tee shirt on, steel caped boots and helmet, (only going for 5 or 10 minutes)
So i warm it up, found a fairly open track and gave it curry, she was flying and i was really happy with it..
On my way back i just cruised i think in 4th  and thats when it happened, saw a rock sticking up out of the track at the last minute, i wanted crack the throttle and lift the front wheel over it but i couldn't as it was on a bit of a bend,
So i jumped on the brakes, the front wheel must of skidded and when it hit the rock i lost control.......
Gauged a big hole in my knee, it was full of dirt and gravel and chipped a piece out of my knee cap  Grazed the skin off my arm from my wrist to my elbow.
Luckey for the steel capped boots, just about ripped the steel cap out of one of them, it could have been my toes as well.
I concider myself Fortunate it could have been alot worse, and im probably back to about 85% with my knee,
I go out every couple of days and start the bikes, kinda itching to get back on.
The bike came out the best, broken clutch lever and some scratch's on the plastics!!

It happens oh soooo easily doesn't Luke, especially when you are enjoying yourself and all the world and universe seems in order 8). I think I owe my Mum a lot; everyday after school my bag would fly in the back door and I would be off. Over my shoulder I would hear my Mum, it was almost a ritual, "Be careful when you're having fun!" It musta sunk in, I survived the 'Tom Sawyer life' of a youngster on an army base ;).

Hey Luke, whats the worst feeling in motorcycling? - sitting on the side of the trail hanging on to your knee thinking, 'I've got a perfectly good pair of knee guards back at the car!' ;) ;D.

You gotta put ya saftey gear on, even if it is a 10 minute burst, ive learnt the hard and expensive way!!
Only takes a split second to come undone   :'(

Yeah I learnt the same lesson the same way, I was just lucky enough not to get badly hurt. I can remember thinking exactly what I quoted above ::).

Cheers, speedy recovery ;) :).
