OK seriously guys, your "help" is strarting to piss me off... is you want to chuff on a verbaly masterbate about your bikes, start another thread and stop lo-jacking mine.

You all seem to be missing the questions i had. FFS stay focused

So far i now know that i need to check the wheel for roundness to see if the spokes have pulled it - check

No shit I'll take the hub bare to someone, but my question was who in or arround Sydney.

Lozza, thanks for the offer - lets discuss further. if its the shift drum then what? Can that be fixed?

More specifically, does anyone know if you can get a set of tapered rollers for the old girl's head set?

Rudy

Go see Balls with your Hub, he will give you some good advise, he is at Pendle Hill 0413 662 029

You can the headset bearing from a Suzuki Dealer, or if you have samples, any bearing supply company like
Bearing Industries Seven Hills Rd (cnr Station Rd)
Seven Hills NSW 2147

And you can get all that annodising done at Universal Annodisers at Wetherill Park, I hear they can also polish your swingarm. and FTD in Queensland can make lightning bolts stickers for any type of bike you want :D :D :D ;D

It's a simple process of elimination, if the dogs and mating slots look rounded then there is your problem, however(through experience) this can sometimes be the symptom of the problem. The shift drum may not allow the the fork to engage the gears enough. Then you need to find another shift drumor shim the gear for a more positive engagement.I don't know anyone who repairs the grooves.

Front brakes are shite. A new set of shoes has revealed that the inner lining is out of round - tried three different sets of shoes all with the same result. Anyone know someone who can machine the inside of a hub?
If you have the bare hub, then any machine shop and 1/2 decent machinist will be capable. In my expierence you will spend a bunch of dollars and have a hub that will be oversize and the only shoes that will fit are custome built ones. I know this because i went through the same process. In all honesty, try and track down another hub better than your's and keep it all standard. As advised else where PE units will fit and you dont have to mod the forks to get them to fit. In the short term you can use them and keep looking for a better replacement than the one you have.

Head stem and swing arm bearings.
Head stem bearings are avaliable as a double taper roller conversion kit from All-Balls. If my memory serves me well when i did this on the 370, you have to press out the steerer tube and machine an extra 5mm down the shaft to allow the taper roller to sit further down the steerer tube. Swing Arm bearings. I am about to investigate using the RM250 N/T kit and see if that will work. If you are really stuck let me know as i may have a reasonable used set.

Shocks
Shocks are all about the size of the wallett. The cheapest way is to have yours modded and recoed. The next alternative is to get onto ebay and find a set of used Ohlins. As long as the shafts are o/k they are not expensive to o/haul. Keep away from remote resevoir units. The last few sets that i have got had rusted out reservoirs as they are steel. The next option is new. YSS are probably the best value for money and you have local support. If you have the $'s then new Ohlins or WP are the way to go but you will pay better than $1500 to get them. Dont even consider the cheaper alternative new units that are on offer as they are crap.

Gearbox
As a matter of standard practice, i have all my RM gearbox dogs undercut when i recondition an engine. I have mine done by WideLine Motorcycling Engineering in Hastings, Victoria.

I have a few sets of the ohlins remote reservoirs. And the reservoirs are good. Only one pair were too rusty but they were over all in very bad condition and I didn’t get them to restore anyway. How ever don’t let a rusty reservoir put you off.

It would be very easy to machine off reservoir body from the end cap has the thread for the hose. This end is originally welded on to the reservoir body so you can just machine off the weld. You can then machine up a new reservoir body and then weld that back onto the cap with the hose thread. You will offcourse need to machine a c-clip groove in the other end for the reservoir cap with the valve. I have a cross section drawing of the reservoirs and that shows me the exact way the end cap and body are fitted and welded together so that makes it even easier.

Other option is to just get rid of the complete steel reservoir and fit the newer 44mm gold remote reservoirs, which is another thing im working on

Gee thanks for the manners lesson Doc. I guess since I'm a newbie and all, you’re right...

Wait a minute - Capital G, Capital F Doc. Don’t give me that "locals only" bull shit. Just because I don’t feel compelled to have a smart arsed answer to every friggin post made on this forum doesn’t make me a newbie.

Shoot Doc, you almost had me changing my name to Congenial Rudy or Super Nice Rudy.

Seriously, thanks for the help.

yep - very nice guy. He has lots of the old stuff and is prepared to rummage around. My PE175 got a collection of bearings from him (one oddball with a pin he could not get). Recommended.

Jesus Marc, if you're going to have ago at someone at least get the punctuation right. This is tame for me - Rossco can vouch for that.

All a guy wants is a little help and it turns into a f@cking cock out session so far from the topic it's laughable.

Anyways - who spells Mark with a "c"? Either parents who were hoping for a poof or the French (cheese eating surrender monkeys)...

Perhaps rubbing your bling under peoples noses is not the best idea ?  ???

Just reviewing my post I started out with well meaning comments about shocks, regarding the spelling of my name at least I have the confidence to use my real one.

no Rudy, a bad attitude is a bad attitude no matter how you look at it, you my friend, have a bad attitude. I do not give a toss who you are or where you are or what you have or don't have ::) you are offending decent people and this is not helping your cause. Catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar and your derogatory comments are quite bitter toward people whom gladly offered up advise at the drop of a hat. Loosen up Rudy or you WILL have to change your name..Nigel No Friends  :-*
