I went to this swap meet today. pretty good day. fair few small TS bikes and few other smaller suzukis. didnt spot any TM/RM stuff but i wasnt really looking. i saw a pretty complete RV 125 sand bike and a rough 75% complete PE 250 C/N missing all the essential correct parts and road going gear. I spotted the worst PE ive ever seen. it was shocking. it looked like it had been riden in the desert. it was like the motor and carb had been coated in glue and someone poured desert sand over it, it was totally orange. it turned out that this was a rare 82 250 Z, the same as i got. the compliance plate said 82 and then i looked at the brake pedal and it was a folding tip so that gave it away. it had incorrect swing arm with incorrect wheel with steel rim, half chopped off pipe with a big steel patch held on with wire over a hole in the chamber, and the whole bike looked so horrible. and missing a lot of parts. i half thought of getting it but thought nah i dont need any more. on the way home i was thinking bugger i should of got it as i had the room to take it home after i off loaded a BSA C15 project and a heap of spares. when i was walking round the oval i just about walked past a box of bits then out of the corner of my eye i spotted a 81 PE tail light in the bottom of a box in very good condition, only needing a clean and new grey sheathing over the wires. $5 and it was mine. It is only a single filament light so how it ended up here is a mystery as we only had dual filament lights. maybe one day a dealer acidently ordered the non E24 spec light for someone as a replacement for their broken light (had it dont to me before) or at on stage someone got from USA or something, but it looked like it had been sitting in the sellers box of bits for years well before the ebay craze. who knows. My 2 other purchases for the day were a one PE blinker and a blue Lucas capacitor. There was quite a lot of 70's trail bikes ideal for projects, there certainly is no shortage of those sort of bikes.
