very nice. its one of the very few british bikes i would ever want to own but i would prefer the later model larger capacity one. this will be very good to watch. i heard about these being in crates a while back and no one wanted them

I don't know much about the AJ's reputation but even so I'd have it in a flash 8)

only thing I find really off putting is the sellers poor spelling in half a dozen instances..it kind of sets off alarm bells in my mind :-\

My American mate Michael McCook also has a brand new unridden 250 AJS Stormer. Apparently the story goes that the US distributor got into some financial strife and a number of bikes were warehoused and forgotten until they were rediscovered 25 years or so later.

I personally can't see the value in a  owning a 'new in the box' bike. If you assemble it, it's no longer new in the box and if you ride it, it's no longer new. To maintain its value, the bike is destined never to be assembled or ridden which I reckon is kind of sad. A well known local racer found a brand new never ridden CR250M back in the late '80s and  immediately started racing the bike. In fact he still owns it and occasionally takes it out for a skid but these days its just another 3k Elsinore instead of the 15k it'd be worth if he didn't ride it.

I'd love to find a frame for one to put a Canam engine in, which is what the PPM Rotax from England looks like. Anyone know where there's a spare frame?

ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I BOUGHT A AJS 370 FOR 5000, RODE IT TWICE, GREAT BIKE, TRIED TO SELL IT ON EBAY, ENDED UP GIVING IT AWAY FOR 2700. PLENTY OF WATCHERS BUT KNOW ONE BIDDING, THEY ARE A TRUE CLASSIC BIKE.
