ISO :- early 80's YZM500 pic's

i have been trolling the net unsuccessfully loking for an early 80's pic of a Yamaha YZM500 works bike aircooled with a power valve, i saw a poster of this in a dealer many years ago and cannot believe i cannot find another pic of it.  Anyone seen one?

To my knowledge there hasn't been a production/works air cooled engine with a power valve (but we maybe making one soon but shhhhhhhh).Considering the YZ 125 had water and a PV in 82???When did the 500 get water?

G'day Lozza, there was a works only water cooled YZM 500 around 88' never made it into production though.

The 86 KDX 200 was air cooled with a power valve, bloody great motor too.

adb had a close up pic in an 1985 issue of a works aircooled power valved model factory yz500.....

Are you thinking of Carlas YZ? The one with the funny shaped expansion pipe to dierct air onto the cylinder?

i might have to go out to the shed an  find that issue of adb to settle everything...but ive never scanned anything before....

found it...dont ask me what issue it is cause the covers been ripped off so i will give you a few details on what adb says about it before i try and have a go at scanning it for you all....so here goes.....leif perssons works yzm500 yamaha.the engine is still aircooled but is more than a match for the water pumpers in the hands of hakan carlqvist.sand cast cases,power valve,round slide carb and radically shaped pipe.factory ohlins front and back with hand made aluminium swingarm.hubs are magnesium...and get this this is strange,disk on the front drum rear.......now ill try and scan this and put it on .....might have to get the misses to help....

I'm pretty sure it had a powervalve. If it's the one I'm thinking about Carlqvist had some choice words to say about about it.
