MX 250 trickery.
« on: January 08, 2009, 04:27:38 pm »
Here's a neat little bit of kit for anybody building a trick MX250/360/sc500. If it fitted the early engine I'de be bidding on it. Cheap right now but I bet it takes off as bidding closes.

slapped a couple of bids in.....getting pricey but what price true love eh..... bit worried about magnesium corrosion, I have a rather unattractive collection of RM clutch covers that look like swiss cheese.

Now that is trick 8), what swingarm is that?

I thought the 250 and 360/500 clutch covers were slightly different. ???

swingarm is PDI, gives a range of shock positions that covers everything from hill climbs to observed trials.  ;D

I think the MX 250 is really under rated, Yamaha build quality, spares on every street corner, its usable and then some. The YZ 250 A for sure is #1, but for the $500 the MX250 cost me I am looking forward to seriously using it.

Its a great underrated motor, the rest I'm not so sure about. I'm sure a little thought and some engineering would have it up with the YZ. That lightweight swinger with a lighter wheel, some quality shocks, some suspenion work at the front and away ya go ;) :).

yep PDI supposedly made it to fit a TM250, the story goes that a US dealer hotted up some TM250s with alloy swingarms and RH motors. I have a later PDI swinger for my 75 KX 250 and it is quite different. For some reason they dropped the adjustable shock position, pity I think they were on to something there.  ;)

grahame you are correct mx250 clutch side covers do not fit mx360 or sc500 as there is no hrmonic balancer on the 250.builge top of c/case behind clutch,
cheers
