This may be an old question, but does anyone in oz make american flattrack style seat bases?   xr750,champion,that sort of thing? I like the look of these units and would like to fit one to my xs650 street tracker and the 500 dirt tracker I'm building for a mate to race next season.

Can also speak to gopher glass there cheap and post ex US, or give one to matchomick to knock up a mould ? i got trackmaster and champion rears but nothing that you could use for a mould on for the TT, you would be better off using the C&J or Knight rear tails, they come up on the Bay all the time

Hi Steve,I'm building an old XS650 for a road bike for myself, and also setting up a DR500 for a mate to race in this seasons dirt track.
The XS is set up like a street tracker for rego, but I'm using road/trail style tyres so I can make the occasional detour down a dirt road when I feel the inclination.

I'm awaiting the above early Trackmaster bodywork to arrive (if it's not lost in transit, I'm getting a tad worried, it should have been here by now) When and if it gets here I'm going to make copies of the seat base/tail section. I'll let you all know when they're available. We may run off some Champion tail sections as well.

Roger, I to have a DR500 that i have been using for vmx (becaue it was cheap) so am curious what mods you plan on making to your mates bike. I was trying to pass it on as it is a bit heavy for the tight tracks usually set out and use the SP370 basket i shouldn't have bought on ebay. The DR is great for vinduro's though. The DT club i am planning to join up with runs a pre 80 class so the DR wouldn't cut it against the moderns. So i am leaning toward the SP rebuild. Seems stupid to pass up a bike that's running for a shit box eh? Steve.

Firko what track master frame did they reckon that rear section is off ?  i know  Neil did bates and  pillion on the race bikes, and then in his own words "tranvestites used the one peice" well thats what he said when he saw my Dt1 square tail, so ray or some other glasser must have made it up, or used old norton version, was it off a triumph chopper or something ? i seen similar shapes on the 71 norton but not with that pad or in that kind off flash colours

Steve........quote...(because it was cheap)same deal here!     I picked up a DR500 in a hustle, sorry, legitimate transaction, for a pile of bike bits. My mate wanted to race a four stroke/all powers/500 class this year and as I already had my PE/DR400 I siad I would build him a bike to race.At this point I'm concentrating on getting the frame set up properly, reducing weightwhere I can, down pipe,DR or TT600 carb and just basic stuff to start, just to see how it runs .I don't mind sharing,so any mods I do that I think are worthwhile ,I'll pass on.
The last bike I built for my mate was made out of whatever we could find in the shed.........'74 DT250,plastic sheeting, old guards,a quick port job ,bigger carb ,air pod and an old down pipe/chamber from some kwaka two stroke road bike that I cut open removed the baffles and made fit.The pipe in the photos is actually an SC500 pipe that another mate of mine made but was too peaky for the 500 so I modified it to fit the 250 (at 10pm at night before the finals of the Coffs dirt track the next day)and it works like a charm.

i have never seen variations other than those 2 , was it off a triumph chopper or something ?
Freaky...I don't know whether you're taking the piss here or showing your lack of knowledge again. I can never tell with your posts. Anyway here are a couple of examples of the many I've seen with that tail section. I was told by the seller it was on a Trackmaster framed Triumph. If you're as big an expert of flat track bikes as you claim to be you'd know that early Hemsley built Trackmaster bikes didn't have a fibreglass tail section and that many racers fitted the aftermarket 'glass to suit their own or their sponsors tastes. I realise that my tail section isn't what Ken Hemsley used on Trackmasters but going by my sellers words, it came off his Trackmaster. In the end...who gives a fork, in my opinion it's a cool tail section, different to the squared off normal stuff and I'm going to use it on my Trackmaster.

If you're as big an expert as you claim  ( ummm when did i ever say that ?) to be you'd know that early Hemsley built Trackmaster bikes didn't have a fibreglass tail section . ( ummm if you read my post properly you'd see i actually said that - whats your Point there).

Ahh firkoah you've done it again, Simple question - big chest reply.  Required only a short answer.

Check the times of the post it was reworded prior to your post, to reflect what i was meaning to ask

any how i think its the pad that makes yours look weird and that back edge, which is why i was simply asking what it was used on prior, you right all glass is aftermarket regardless.

Put it on what ever you like and enjoy it.   Not sure about the rest of your post , bit drawn out  ............  :D

Freaky...I was reacting to your original wording which was almost indeciferable, not your cleaned up version . It's not "big chesting" (although I do have a big chest  ;)). I was merely reacting to your claim that you'd never seen anything like my tail section and that

was it off a triumph chopper or something
. None of the Norton reference was in the original post. I posted the photos to show you that they were indeed used on flat trackers. It's easy to make yourself look good and belittle others when you change the context of the post being discussed.
If you want one copied, just ask and I'll run one off for you. If not, no worries it'll look good on my Trackmaster.
Bummer, by replying to this I've broken one of my New Year Resolutions and the year's only 8 days old. ;D

While we are on this subject.. Would the "person" that borrowed my Champion tank, seat and plate moulds PLEASE RETURN THEM!!!!. You know who you are and others would like to have the use of them too for their personal projects not to make a shit product and then sell them as NOS stock >:( . Tim754,.   sometimes I regret being so easy to con.....................
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
