Yep thats the bike in the 5th post, i been speaking to that paul already.  Hes pulled it as it wasnt meeting his reserve i guess, he bought a few in from the UK i think.  hes into all these bikes by the sound of it.

Thats also the confusion,  differing states seem to have differant ideas on whats in or out of the period, i might have to get onto the local guys and find out what they will let me ride, i just dont want to play with the big boys, and want somthing already dated and can ride around the back of the pack with the old fellas :O)

Freaky...Up until recently classic speedway was restricted to 2 valve engines in period frames. In NSW and I'd asume the rest of the country, the class has recently been opened up to accept basically any 2 or 4 valve engine in an upright frame with conventional forks (no leading link forks). So, all you need to find is a speedway bike with an upright engine, much like all of the photos you've posted. It shouldn't be too hard to find one, I was at the recent Nepean speedway meeting and there were a number of classics with for sale written on them.

so i thought, Well thats the rule of thumb i was using but for some reason i came onstuck with some folks getting into a debate on the 4 valve thing, the rods to cams, oil loss thing and a few other curve balls, its not set out as clearly as our MX/ Dt consise list is in the Moms.

Where the bikes for sale speedway 500's  or dirt track sliders im unfarmiliar with nepean i though they did Dt there ?  Im guessing you took no photos of them or would the club know who they were ?

JIm did you go to that meeting and have you any PHone numbers for me ?

There's a good speedway in the centre of the dirt track at Nepean. The bikes for sale were speedway bikes, not sliders. I didn't bother taking any photos but if you're serious I can make some phone calls. I'm going away for a few days tomorrow morning but I'm travelling with the bloke with probably the best classic speedway bike collection in the land so I'll pump him for info on what may be available.
I'll PM you if I find out anything.

I don't have anything to do with classic speedway but from what I've seen and heard, they don't take too much notice of the rulebook up here. They don't run big meetings or championships, it's purely a low key club level thing and they run 4 valves. The two valve scene in both speedway has faded away to the point that something has to be done to keep it all alive. In dirt track champ meets it's still 2 valve but I notice the 4 valve , or evo class creeping in unofficially. It's only a matter of time. On another tack, 2 valve speedway bikes cost a lot more than an old Wessy or an 894 Jawa right now. Get your 4 valve before the prices sky rocket.
