Best bike there would have to be that sexy looking blue YZa in the background in the yam/ honda section parked next to this one in the photo  ;D

1985 Knight Honda

Honda XR 600 powerplant with a Terry Knight frame, gas tank and seat, wheels by A&A Racing.
Dave Bird built the exhaust and intake system. Cylinder head work by Edco.

Do these fantasic machines ever now get started or wheeled outside at all? Most likely not..So sad . To me most museums are mausoleums.  Total utter waste better they sell them to a scrapyard so the Chinese can make pitbikes out of them, At least they will breathe fuel and air again.

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

A bit toughTim. Danny is a quadraphlegic who was injured in a race accident and the museum is his livelihood. Many of the bikes are loaners or donated and all of the proceeds go to Dans support. The American health system hasn't done him any favours over the years and this museum is a testimony to the support fellow racers give to a fallen comrade. The open day held every May is one of the warmest, most fun day you can have. You get to bench race with blokes like Dave Aldana, Gene Romero and buys like that who get behind Dan and his museum. The bikes all pretty much go and are often taken to vintage races to be ridden by old stars. I've been to three of these open days and they are right up there in my list of inspirational and fun days.

NAr your a bit far off the mark timbo.

Dan has an open house every year where they get indoor and outdoor displaysgoing and get all the folks to come and ride in or turn them over as well, most of the bikes in there are or were raced until recently, most of Tom hortens stuff still does the Wcft series and has done  so for years, digger helm puts up the purse for many Ft events and these guys also run Pikes pike, they have a truimph that aGAIN LAST YEAR CAME TOP 3 OUT RIGHT ! never mind smashing the classic records, these guys Timbo are more like you,  all are old racers, all still ride them and some like dan who is now in a wheel chair cant, but watch and support these bikes wherever they go, you will notice many bikes are built buy old tuners/racers poncho vincent, sparky edmuson, digger, and a whole bunch of old mates, they still build fast bikes, unfortunalty they have too many so some sit in the museum to share with others but are not locked up in a home humidy crib like perhaps what you where refering too, however i do know alot of these bikes come in and out, like mine did, so they may be raced one season then get refreshed and spend a year back in.

This would be the best museum in the world for exactly the opposite of what your suggesting, this would be one of only a few places that not only turn over floor stock with fresh rebuilds, but still encourage them to race and happily send them for static displays all over the country.

my only regret of my 2004 usa tour was not getting to dans place to see the bikes.he is a good man.i told him i was from australia and a old dirt track rider.hes said to me on the phone that the museum would be open when i arrived even if just for me.the trip to fresno and then to yesimite national park from san francisco in 1 day was not going to happen as the wife said she wasent sitting in the car all day so i can look at motorbikes.rang dan and told him the story he said the offer will stand till i get there if it takes some years.

Havent ventured into the Vintage Track section before. There is some fantastic machinery in this museum.Bit worried about around 30 horsepower and no brakes. These bikes look quick just standing still!Shit now I want one(Ill add it to the list).
