David Silver Spares - UK
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:01:44 am »
Has anyone had experience with this company?
I ordered some parts and requested a total price including postage but one part they don't have (despite listing 3 as available) and after requesting a postage cost 3 times, they still won't give me one.  >:(
Has anyone had a better experience. Maybe I need to start again and hope I get a different sales guy?? Or am I wasting my time?
Thanks in advance............  :)

tony parcell costs are  usually a killer from the uk,allot of companys use parcel joints if you do get your bits and and have a relo in the uk get them to send /royal mail is allot cheaper
i had one and the difference was 9 pound to 65 pound

That may be why they are avoiding the question..........

Tony, I have only had good dealings with them, but it was only on small items (piston rings) and the postage was fair.

I haven't bought from them for a while but when I did the pre sale and sale experience was excellent - would recommend them.

Quite possibly the biggest pack of idiots I've ever had to deal with I'm afraid.
I have dealt with 3 different people to even get a total price including postage.
Finally though I was getting somewhere when I got the quote for 87.11 including postage and Pay Pal surcharge...................
Then the Pay Pal invoice comes in at 102.36............
I've given them one more chance to get their shit together but I will never deal with them again I'm afraid.
Either you blokes got lucky or I got unlucky.............  :D :D
Thank you. I feel better now.   ;D

At least they are quite quick at replying.............  ;D
I've given up and cancelled the order.
Pity, I've heard no other bad reports about them and if it was only one person giving me trouble, I could understand. But so far I've dealt with 3 staff from there that haven't got a clue.

Tony, alarms bells are ringing, if you have contacted them so many times and get different prices etc, it sound like a mess about to unfold. if it was me i would be looking for another supplier.

Already done Hoony.
It did seem strange that they avoided the postage question so many times, but when the invoice came at 25% more than the quote, I've had to let it go.

I'm sure you're right, Dave. As I have not heard one other bad report. And there's always a few good words from readers in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine.
However, I have still lost confidence at this stage.
Might try again...........one day.................  ;D

Update............
Just got an email from David (Silver, I suppose) apologising for the problems etc etc.
It is impressive that the staff that stuffed up advised the boss of what happened and that he has then taken the time to contact me.
I think I'll give them another go in the future.  ;D

Just to update things, I ordered some hard-to-get-in-Oz parts from Silvers last weekend by email, they were in stock and arrived at my door in Oz on the Thursday morning, less than four days, most impressed.   :o
