Rats and two stroke oils

   a few years ago placed two 1 litre bottles of two stroke oil on a shelf in the shed with all the other oils most of us accumulate for lawn mowers , pumps ,chainsaws ,brushcutters  and the usual oils for our 2 and 4 stroke old bikes.  the yamalube racing 2-R fully synthetic with ester and the Maxima Castor 927 pro series racing formula 2 cycle oil  were both oils i probably would not buy (  actually won them at classic dirt during the trivia contests ) .

these unopened bottles sat ignored till today ,when i picked them up they were empty yet  their caps retained the seals,  it seems rats ? have methodically chewed small holes in each bottle from top to bottom and consumed the leaking oil as there was none on the old hardwood shelves and no telltale oil on the stuff on the shelf below. not a drop .

never had rodent problems with the run of the mill oils in the last  forty odd years ,  do rats prefer the expensive full synthetic with additives ??

anyone else had similar or odd rat /rodent  problems or  if you are an authority on the digestive system of a rat please comment

   Funny enough the rats in my shed go for the Rock Oil R 40, so I have now had to keep it in a metal cabinet.

As well as now not being constipated your rats have passed an intelligence test by starting at the top of the bottles.

Easy to solve it was the Rat with the smoking ass

Some years ago at the Broadford Motorsports Complex there was a serious problem with Rats.
I think they came from the local tip which was only 2-3 KM away as the crow fly,s.
Anyway they were very destructive .  Getting into a outside storage shed and eating the tops of almost a pallet of bottled water and chewing the plugs and sockets of power extension leads but they did not chew the cable. Most good electrical cable is treated with a chemical the rats do not like. We killed them with Talon brand Rat bait , a good product but they keep coming back after a few weeks.  So we got the local Pest and Weed kill guy in. His nickname was Toxic.
He got the name because he used chemicals that were banded for sale or no longer made and of course not even a little bit green friendly.  Anyway we do not know what he used and he would not say but it killed the rats and they did not came back for long time and then only in small numbers. Just in closing rats also like motorcycle seats and car interiors.
So be Warned . Kill Them. Otherwise when they eat you BMW or Porsche seats you will cry when you get the repair bill.

 thank you for the advice and feedback ,  my neighbour Nick  had the rat bastards chew the piping on the rear seat of his XY GT Falcon that he has owned since new. world war 3 started immediately.
 
i have  enjoyed  long term baiting of the things and have jack russells and a couple of resident carpet snakes yet old rattus norvegicus still manages to chew random stuffs .

 an 89'  kawasaki ZX10  1000   i recently acquired at a garage sale had a  rat built 3 bedroom unit tucked into the voluminous tail piece and under seat area , its size only matched by the urine stench and shit pellet decor they had been living in.        g.

I’d happily poison them - but it is creating a huge problem for their predators. Especially Owls
I love owls and pythons - doubly so since they eat rats and mice. . (Hopefully no poisoned ones)

Rats are much smarter than mice, but they still full for the pumpkin seed coated with peanut butter suspended over a 25 ltr drum with about 100 mm of water in the bottom.
