AJS 250 Stormer kill switch
« on: January 25, 2020, 10:02:57 pm »
Just in the end stages of a resto on an AJS Stormer; my question is - these things did not leave the factory with a kill switch so need to add one so my plan is to splice to the negative on the coil a single wire to run to a button. Am I on the right track? - is grounding the neg the right way to put a kill switch on this thing. (points and mag)

with Kettering type ignitions (points) usually the kill switch is connected to the points wire that feeds the coil and the other side of kill switch is connected to earth. if the kill switch contact is closed it shorts out the points.

use a multimeter on ohms scale to determine the correct wire connected to the coil from the points.  hope this helps
