Wanted: 19" alloy rim with 36 spoke holes
« on: January 31, 2019, 12:23:53 pm »
Sorry, posted this message in the 'for sale' by mistake yesterday.... OPS, feel free to delete that one.

Hi. I'm looking for a used 19" alloy rim either 1.4" or 1.6" wide. Usual dings and corrosion is OK by me and I'm hoping to spend no more than $50 plus postage or pick up in person.
Building a trials bike for grandkids and can't find one in my usual sources for bits. Someone here is more likely to have one under the workbench or hanging up in the shed :)
I'm near Bendigo, Victoria.
Cheers,
Joe

Thanks for the link.
I guess you saw the postage at AU$100? on top of AU$150 for the two rims (I only need one).
How do you know what sizes they are? The ad shows no sizes....

The front is a 19 x 1.4; a nice quality, light weight rim, the same size as std SL100 as the add says.
Contact the seller; he will most likely supply a single rim and reduced postage. Same guy sells complete SL100 wheel assemblies- ie  new hubs and spokes with steel rims fitted for $79.00 + post.and is happy to supply them with the aluminium rims for not a lot more. Here:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/LG1350-NEW-HONDA-XL100-K0-1976-SL100-FRONT-WHEEL-RIM-HUB-CHROME-SPOKE-F10S/262620147041?hash=item3d25616d61:g:B0MAAOSw-kdX1Vk0:rk:5:pf:0

Someone will probably know more, but as far as I can recall there were no Hondas, or others, fitted with a 19-1.4-36 aluminium rim. Plenty of 17" that will go on the hub but the big wheel minis- the most likely source- that use 19" had fewer spokes, usually 32.
If you love it, lube it.

Thanks again for the details. I've contacted the seller for a "friendly" quote with postage....

Oh yes. First place I looked. Checked every single alloy rim in the entire yard - took ages :)
I got the rear rim from him (17 x 2.15) and tyres. He has a lot of weird and wonderful stuff there....

Still no luck - sadly. Postage of a new one is prohibitive from anywhere outside of Oz.
Still hoping someone has an old one lying under the bench somewhere....

Thank you very much for the offer, jimg1au. I have a couple of steel ones too. Just a bit heavy - and I have an alloy rear one. Just would like them matching...

1984 RM80 big wheel had a 1.40 x 19" 36 spoke aluminium rim on a drum hub- probably the only bike brought in with that combo.
If you love it, lube it.

Hi Joe, i had a look through my pile of shit that I'm hoping somebody else will want, and only came up with a 19 x 1.85 x 36 hole gold alloy. I think it may have been a rear rim??  But my daughter is travelling to Bendigo in the morning!!  ;) ;D

Hi Barra. Thank you very much for looking for me! The wheel will be mounted with a 2.5x19 trials tyre. I think 1.85 is a bit too wide.
Having said that, if I don't find anything narrower (1.6 or 1.4) I'll get in touch. There is no hurry at all.
Cheers,
Joe

No worries Joe.  i went through a similar thing many moons ago when I up sized my sons TY80 to a big-wheel.

I think I ended up using a chrome steely (to keep original look as much as anything else, and it may have been 32 hole?).
