some specs to determine which model you have  are; 1983  black frame  1984 blue frame ,1983 cushion rocker pivot bolt is 15mm dia 1984 17mm dia ,1983 had yellow painted front forks  1984 had no paint but yellow plastic protectors ,you would need to show a picture of the disc brake front end to determine what it is off as 1983 & 1984 had drum brakes only the 1985 model had disc and they are rare as,if the front end is Suzuki and the rim is gold anodised its off a 1985 rm .the rear shock remote resovior on a 1983 model has a flat screw  adjuster on the end next to the hose 1984 had a black plastic knob adjuster on it,the dates of manufacter are stamped on the rims 9/82 will be the start of 1983 model and 9/83 will be the start of 1984 models and rear rim on both models should be stamped 2.50  for the width size ,250cc models had 2.15.and the rear axle on a 1983 model should be 17mm dia and 1984 is 19mm dia hope this info helps you sought it out as you don't know if motor is original as the both look identical oh and the 1983 swingarm is a hollow rectangular tube section the entire length and the 1984 model has a solid plate section where the axle goes through, but best way is to put up some pics cheers Barry

The disc front end will have to go if its an 84 model bike and you want to race in pr85 class. And if it does happen to be the ultra rare 85 model 500 well that is out for pre 85 too.

. Front disc should be legal Pre85  on a RM500. 84 TS250 ran a disc.
If you love it, lube it.

What is the disc brake front end off?  If it is off a 84 Honda or Kawasaki it might be legal.  To use a TS 250 front disc brake you would have to use the TS forks and I don't think you would want to do that.  Also it is just the disc brake what are the forks off.  Remember the onus of proof rests with the bike owner.

Why would you have to use the TS250 forks Kevin?

The ONLY pre 85 legal suzuki 'dirt bike' disc front wheel/forks is the 84 model TS250X. The forks are 38mm and shorter so are obviously a down grade from the 43mm RM forks. So the only other way to use the TS disc wheel/brakes is if you were creative you could make a caliper holder/carrier to go onto the stock RM 43mm forks and use the TS wheel. I have seen this done before on all sorts of drum forks. This would be ok because no 85 model parts are being used.
The 85 model RM500F is an 85 model. Using the disc front off that 85 model is not legal for pre 85 because the parts are 1985 model parts. Easy to understand i would of thought.

Would the TS disc brake attach to the 84 RM drum brakes forks.
