Ok ...... let's try again.

This is the original one at Farleigh Castle back in 2007.

I run R40 for all of it. I change the oils after every race meeting.
It's the only oil I have found that will stand the heat. (not wishing to start another oil debate !)

is that castrol castor oil ?
i used it in my weslake 500 speedway. it can "pit" engine internals if sitting for time.

I have used castor based R40 for many years and provided its changed on a regular basis gives no trouble. I think you might find that methanol fuel is the problem being gyroscopic and causes water formation and rust if the oil is left over a long period.
I only use AVGAS these days but always flushed the fuel tank with petrol when using methanol and dropped the oil after each meeting.

It's my dyslexic digit, it should be as you know hydroscopic. It happens with arthritic fingers and single digit keyboard skills

Well .... other than bolting the sump plate back on, it's done.
I have had a good 15 minute ride around a friends field, and all seems fine. I have changed all the oils and the spin on filter. No horrors found. I cut the filter open just to look in there too. Easter Sunday will be the first race meeting for it, so we'll see what happens. I intend to take it easy .... at first  ;)
