Exhaust pipe manufacturer ID

Does anyone recognise these design features which are the only identifiers I have for possible identification.
- made in USA
- most likely in west coast CA region
- made in late 70's

Simple washer for pipe spring. I am yet to see another pipe with this type of loop and i have heaps of photos of pipes saved, but a lot of photos i have looked at don't really show this area in close enough detail either.

It has these remains of some dobs of weld that once held on a heat shield of some sort. There are 3 each end. I am only 50/50 on the single middle one, i think that could be just  a high spot where paint has rubbed off it. The gaps between the 3 spots of weld are about 20mm

This is a M6 nut shown for size reference. If they were a lot closer together i would of said maybe a 1/4 nut was there and that it possibly could have been a Torque pipe as they had welded on nuts. Maybe the spots of weld held on a larger flat washer with a nut in the center of that?

Does not really seem like enough weld spots to hold on mesh to me.

With welds like that done by oxy it looks abit home madeish though the washer for the exhaust springs would be more durable then the usual thick oxy wire hooks they all used back in the day

Bassani used Wire ( coat hanger probably) not washers for header spring retention.
Whats it off and any chance of a full shot of the pipe? could help with the ID as I have seen pipes with washers but its not  jumping out at me. Looks early 70s and I dont think they had TIG or MIG untill the late 70s so Oxy was the tool of choice.

It's definitely built no earlier than 77 because its specifically for reed valve 185 77-78 or US 79N. It has not been adapted or modded from another make/model. I was impressed with the welds. Nothing dodgy looking. Torque did list one for this model but i have never seen one and all the earlier ones had a flat bit of steel with a small hole drilled in it for the pipe spring. Obviously production can change along the years and the washer is a quicker easier way to do it. Looks a lot like other photos of Bassani, Al Baker and DG MR175 pipes i have seen, but its still only similar in shape. They all had mesh and some had in built mufflers. Nothing convincing me its one of those. No the stinger has not been cut. Bolt on muffler goes on from there. It came off a bike that had last had CA offroad rego in 82 and been on the bike since then. Obviously could have been a custom build from one of the many pipe manufacturers in the area at the time too.

i just put a second copy of the last photo in with a '2' above it. That link i grabbed while i was in Fire fox and not chrome and appears a little different. If that one is seen and not others then that gives a me more of a clue as to what is happening i think

How odd. No pics showing via Android though chrome shows them fine.. i have heard of the firefox issue quite a lot of late.

It could be difficult if its an obscure maker as no one knows if those mounts are original.
