A mate has told me of the latest vehicle import rules, both bikes and cars. So cars are being checked for gaskets, brakes, underbody rust/ noise coatings and even the sealant used on windscreens.One bloke has scrapped a car that got through , it was the only way out.The fine is three times the cost of the car or bike -- OR $180,000 , whatever is greater for an individual. A business could be up for $900,000. It can be done with samples being tested by NATA registered labs etc in AUST, but time and money kicks in. I reckon it is too much of a risk and I have imported a bike a few years back from the USA.

Several Maico part numbers are listed as Asbestos in their indexed parts legends,,,,

I have been immersed in the "Aggravated" asbestos particle dust my entire life, from young and still kicking,,,

As my daughter says often,, your way past nine lives times times many,,, "you live on borrowed time dad"

A lot of the great wall vehicles that came in had asbestos in the head gaskets, they had to be swapped out on import, and done poorly with very dodgy gaskets..... good mechanics ripped the heads backlog, re faced then and checked the block then fitted quality gaskets so they would last.

been working in and around brakes and clutches on and off for years..not full time but as a keen "no idea" mr mechanic...always wire brush down my brake shoes, car clutches etc taking care to "hold my breath" if dust was about. blasting out the HK's brakes with compressed air fits that bill .. always finish the bikes brakes with wet and dry to "remove glazing"..had some breathing issues recently  (wife says I have sleep apnea) so off to the lung man to test..my lung capacity exceeded 7 litres and breathing capability was in the "excellent capacity" range for 55 - 60 yo...my breathing issues were down to mental issues...(getting old and not finishing the list!) Asbestosis?? need to have been submerged in an asbestos rich environment for some time to allow "inundation of the lungs" to occur. in imported vehicles ...bloody scam

Not unlike covering buildings with fire retardant panels only to find the imports weren't what they were supposed to be
