Exhaust to silencer connector
« on: June 08, 2017, 11:36:01 am »
Hi all, I am trying to connect a none standard silencer/ muffler to the original exhaust. I'm looking for a rubber connector with 25mm internal diameter and at least 40 mm long to use with hose connectors. I'm sure there are many bike manufacturers that use or used this kind of setup but without spending lots of time on Partzilla I thought some one on the forum could steer me in the right direction as to what bikes used this.
Cheers C

Go to a supercrap auto or other automotive shop and get some silicone hose. Can buy lengths off feebay cheap too. 25mm id should be as common as mud.

Ordinary silicon tube may not be up to acting as the pipe. I had a heat failure using that method and used the hose over a metal joining sleeve.
If you love it, lube it.

Have looked in the car shops but nothing, I'm sure some bike manufacturers used flexible connectors in the 80s and 90s????????

MX store have them. $7.95
Bad attitudes are like flat tyres.
You can't go anywhere till you change them.

Bought a metre about 3 years ago for my IT400D after the genuine Yam rubber reinforced joint failed. Still there.

I used a short length of radiator hose out of a wrecked VS Commodore Dad's got lying around the farm to seal the pipe/silencer joint on my IT, it's been on there for four years now and hasn't failed yet.
