Number plate numbers...... Where to get them ?
« on: May 26, 2017, 09:43:16 pm »
Just as a matter of interest, where do people get their stick-on numbers to use on their regular 250x200 VMX-style oval number plates ? I've cut them out of white contact from the hardware in the past and they usually look pretty crappy and fall off in the rain anyway.
Any ideas ?

most bike shops carry them in black and white.  However if you wish to really look the goods get some tailormade combined (background and number) by a decal specialist - big improvement.

Wrong colour, and it's only good for 1,4, 7 and 11. Everything else looks crap.  8)

You have obviously never tried to do lap scoring ::) Duct tape number are the proverbial pain in the butt. Yes I know you are hopefully taking the piss

If you choose to cut your own number buy some thick vinyl sheet in the correct colour from your bike shop $10 for a 300 x 600mm sheet and cut them from that. At least they stay on for a full season.

Hi Nitram, you do know there are businesses out there that make up numberplate stickers with your number printed on them don't you? It is more expensive but it is impossible for your numbers to wash or rub off. I've had the same stickers on a bike for 4 years, ridden and washed it numerous times and apart from a few grazes & scratches someone must have put on when I wasn't looking, they are still as they when I put them on.

Ken is speaking about what I was also referring to - I actually don't know whether I will be ever able to get them off - hope my number doesn't change :)

In a pinch, you can buy numbers at boat shops. (I did this for some numbers on my roost protector- as required by officialdom at some events.) And some bike shops.
