Can probably arrange something for you Bill.

Wouldn't mind a go in a superkart and fanging a MkI or Mk2 Escort looks like a lot of fun if a little expensive. Historic rally would be great but getting my head around listening to pace notes is a bit of a hurdle. These days with 2.4 litre and Warrior 16v heads and all the other bells and whistles Escorts are around the 250hp mark or there is the Honda S2000 engine swap which is about 350hp in a 900kg car ;D

Will probably try vintage trials when I get the frame & swing arm back from the owner of my TY250 after the swing arm has been lengthened, still have my Jarvis replica Sherco but work has gotten in the way of using it in modern stuff the last couple of years
Vinduro looks like fun but I can't see me getting a suitable bike to try it out

I jumped into Twinshock Trials a while back on a TY175...
havn't done enough of it for a while but its a hoot!
ride all day on the one bike,
low maintenance,
stop and talk with your mates,
but I am crap at it...
will get out there again this year on a TY250D {which is a pig!}
good fun!

would like to try classic road Racing also...

hey tony, I bloke regularily does the harrow Vinduro on a tl 250...gets lots of envious looks on the real steep bits

and speed wise the old TL250 isn't bad either - had one as a young fella and on the old flat motocross track used to drift it pretty well :)

AH LOL me to, I was about 17, even had it road registered remember doing a mono in a car park at the footy club and the metal L plate dug in and over I went and straight under the back of someones car, couple of scratch's on the car, bike and me all good! limp limp bleed

would like to do display rides with the wife on the chair, but been getting the itch again to go back and fly, never did do cross country and 2 seat endorsement, did do tail dragger
so yer would like to hope over a few trees in paddocks

Keeping it "vintage", you'll have to put your tail dragger skills to use in a Tigermoth.
I learned to fly in a 1950s Bell 47. Wooden blades, Franklen engine.
It's all "computers" and digital displays these days.

I had some great times as a sprog one of the instructors was Doc he flew Caribu's
Bell 47B 1945, 157 hp top speed 169 km/h the first helicopter in the world to be officially certified for civilian use (is that the one?)
Ill be keeping at the light end of the scale as money is an issue and no I don't want to fly digital with bells and whistles going off and hearing "terra firma go up" just the wind whistling past is enough going in dead stick ( practicing for out field landings LOL)

Isn't that cheating?
 I can remember the stories of a enduro set near Wellington over here by a guy on a trials bike that got a lot of moans about the unrealistic average speeds they were expected to mantain, I happen to know the rider in question & he would have been generous setting the speeds compared to what he would have gotten around in on the TY  ;D

LOL boy did I read that wrong!  so you were in your ninety's back in the fifties ( so that makes you 154 ish ) Youre doing real well for your age

I'm making the change as much as I can. No VMX here so I only got to ride on interstate trips.

Now my choices are Vintage trailrides, enduro and trials and a change of bike focus to a PE250B and an RL250.

I'm also looking at a change of living choice and planning a move to probably the Sunshine Coast hinterland in a year or two.
Looking forward to a LOT more riding

Such an iconic circuit with such a rich history, it wouldn't really matter to me what I was riding/driving as long as I was racing against similar machinery and could experience the thrill of getting to know and racing that circuit. Targa Tasmania looks good fun too. Not sure if they have a classic class

Targa Tasmania sure does have several Historic classes.  A nice 911 Porsche is the go.

Strongly support Vinduro as an alternative activity.  In particular, events organised by the VTR team. 

The VTR organisers are great folk who have thought long and hard about developing a winning formula which involves leaving your attitude at the gate and being prepared to have a lot of fun with people who pull up beside you on the track and ask "are you OK?".  A one camp fire policy guards against cliques developing and allows everyone to gather together at the end of the day to share their experiences of the day's riding.  A good sign is the increasing number of families participating in the events (great to see a dad following his daughters around the loop).  As mentioned, hot showers and portable toilets allow members to freshen up at the end of the day.  Simple rules apply regarding your steed: no rear disc brakes; no upside down front forks; and a headlight (doesn't need to be functioning).  Everything from a humble Suzuki ER185 to an exotic Euro thumper can be seen on the loop at any event.  In sum, a great place to meet wonderful people seeking to enjoy life in a positive way.
