savage oring chains

just wondering if has used savage brand svg oring chains there selling on ebay, are they any good on a low powered bikes like a ts185?

Will run a 428 non oring no prob even if its been worked a little. May stretch after awhile bur wont snap one.Havnt seen nor used that brand.

actually its going on a TC185 which some on here wouldn't be familiar with and I'm restricted to 520 chain size with the tc185 only gen Suzuki countershaft spocket otherwise id use a 428 oring chain but if anyone knows another model with the same size splined centre then I'm all ears like a datto dealer

Sux those things have a larger shaft size and I think your stuck with 520. The tc125 also uses the larger shaft   They have even less hp but I guess the lo range would stress the chain.

I have used their top quality chain and I think its good-late model Gasgas ec300.

Have a good experience with EK chains. Made in Japan and they are 45USD or thereabout plus shipping on Ebay or Partzilla US. Have EK 520 O ring chains on my 79 and 80 RM 125 an have no dramas so far. Just set correct slack and than retension after a couple of hours of riding. Never heard of Savage brand chains. China, Taiwan?

I've Used the non O'ring race chain on some VMX bikes, listed as high or higher tensile strength than DID with no issues other than the outer plates rust quicker. I guess the plating is inferior, but they seem good value for money.

ok thanks for the reports back and ill take a chance with an savage oring chain on a 185 I'm building up and at $49 on ebay providing no one else bids that not a bad price with post

I can only think check chain width against chain guides etc. O-ring chains dont seem to fit too well in my it 175, but you can get similar sealed 520s, I forget the brand, they might be called u-ring, they are same width as non-o-ring.

Why not see if someone can make you up a 428 sprocket for it.  Ask John Titman Racing.

ill stick with the 520 chain as ive got the rear spocket I brought yrs ago for another project and getting spockets made up usually costs a lot more unless there a common off the shelf item even then id go direct to a industrial chain and spocket supplier
